Review Good bad ugly vs Port Adelaide R8 2024

They are different types. Crouch is a contested ball winner where as Laird is the outside / loose ball distributer. Two different players. Laird is still a good Mid. just can't have him being your headline act. Which is what Nicks had. Which speaks more about Nicks ability to understand his players than Laird.

Crouch - Ave 6.1 Score Involvements over 7 rounds this year
Laird - Ave 4.9 Score Involvements over 8 rounds which includes 13 against the witches hats.

Crouch is way better than Laird.

It is important that we consider every decision by the AFC incompetent and evil.

1) Dan Curtin will not debut this year was wrong.

2) Dan Curtin will be played as a key defender was wrong.

3) Dan Curtin, a Kid coming off a 5 day break, was subbed out after 3 quarters was the height of stupidity???

After a very enjoyable and unexpected win, some posters think it is important to ignore all the positives and look for the negatives. A would prefer a better balance of the good and the bad after a Showdown win.
Who are the some posters that think it’s important to ignore all the positives and look for the negatives?

It’s about as accurate as his DROVES call and it’s a common theme amongst you “positive” posters, you need to make up shit to try and make your point because you know what you’re posting is bullshit.

You really should lay off the trolling too, it’s embarrassing.

Name me the last player who successfully played the following week after doing a hammy...

Why would Port think Rozee had special healing powers?

Just beyond dumb.

He couldn't kick properly from the 1st bounce... so what sort of fitness tests did he do? Hand Ken another cola...

Ken has a long pattern of behaviour of abusing players welfare.

I think Rozee felt awareness didn't really do it. Just knew it was coming if he kept playing. Clearly everyone knows what this means and he should have taken a week or even 2 weeks. My thinking is if Rozee sits out, then he goes into injury protocols which means the doctors have a big say. Ken didn't want that, he wanted him available.

Thats not my argument at all. Im merely saying they are different players. But yes, if it was pick 1, id pick Crouch every day of the week.

I wasn’t arguing just pointing out, Crouch gets more involved with scoring as opposed to Laird who just gets the ball without thinking what to do with it to the teamates advantage. How many times does he put a player under the pump? And Laird loves the one-two as well.

After the bounce from Fog's second goal, JHF receives a handball just forward of the centre circle:

after which he takes 14 steps at full pace (I'd estimate 23m conservatively) before he blasts away:

Well more than 15m., no free.
There's a worse one of his on the near wing later but I haven't found it yet (watching AFL replay).
The Umps' attitudes to htb was similar; Butters especially gets a lot of leeway :poov1: .

(I know, I know, Rankine ran about 40m with one bounce for his game-sealer in the last , but I'm gonna put that one down to bad Umpiring consistency ) :sneaky:.

We could probably benefit from Laird dropping back to the HBF with Soligo becoming the primary starting Mid and phase Laird out of the rotation.

Are you surprised?

People are leaving this board in DROVES, it's probably THE most negative thread on Big Footy, with the likes of George Kramer leading the way...

When mods stop caring that thread titles are changed to being overtly negative then you know the board is pretty cooked.
Leaving in droves??.

Really?.. sounds a little but over the top..

Who are these droves of posters that have left?..

You should be able to list atleast two dozen to back your comment..

So get to it… We’ll all be waiting for your list..

Be careful, you’ll be called sunshine.

Also won’t state who it was, I’m going with Subaru

Umpires dont pay it. The reason I believe is because they aren't watching the ball carrier they are watching the players around him and the contests up the field for holding, high tackling. Its why its all but disappeared. Its the same with HTB doesn't get paid for good tackles. Because the umpires are on alert to look for the high tackle. Its only once the checklist gets ticked, then they go oh he still has the ball and then its see if he isn't making an effort. Ive lost count of the amount of times players drop the ball in tackles to no free. Same thing. Its not a priority on the checklist.

Is this a serious question?

Subs are generally brought on to provide fresh legs. Smith, although down on form, is an experienced player able to impact the game in an offensive and defensive manner, depending on game situation.

Not using that grey matter, GreyCrow

No need to throw around insults man.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

We are 3-5 for a reason. Its not a negative to analyse why. Do you think we should just sit back and happy clap everything the club says and does?

Everyone on here is not bagging a showdown win either. So get that out of your head. What we are doing is trying to figure out why this came about when the rest of our form has been the best part of a dogs meal from yesterday.

I think you need to take a step back.

The only reason people aren't commenting on this board is because the club isn't doing well and they only like to comment when the club does well. Thats not a bad thing. Its got nothing to do with negativity. Throwing insults around like you own the place, thats what drives people away.

We had a good chance to be 4-4 and just percentage outside the 8 for a reason as well despite how shit we've played with this new game plan and still playing this shit kick-in. Also, played a lot of good teams (outside of North Melbourne) who are in the 8 or there about.

The only way we'll end up with the right team is through strategic injury

Eg the 0-3 Crows lose Murphy and suddenly go on a 3-1 hot streak

A struggling Smith finally succumbs and gives us some options. Well, well, well... more wins and we get to debut a jet.

None of it by our choosing.

I made a general comment about some negative posters on this Board. I was very careful not to indicate any specific posters after you reported me to the Troll Moderator for trolling you in my last post (actually I was trolling Bearded Clam so I was happy to take the penalty). Everything isn’t always about you George.

Is you responding to every post I make trolling (and I post about 5% compared to your voluminous contributions).

I really hope I wasn’t being a Figjam 😁?

Cook started well with the goal over the back. Less than 2 minutes into the second quarter he had his third kick. Over the remaining 90 minutes he had ONE disposal.

I watch all the SANFL games and Brayden has a unique ability to disappear for long periods of time. I was reliably informed that he was playing blackjack at the Casino during the last three quarters of the game.

Yeah, seems like I just noticed each of his possessions or something, had no idea he was that quiet.

And it's early May

I know it's a Showdown but surely to goodness Port have bigger ambitions this year than beating us

Why on earth would you risk your best player in Round 8 when you're sitting 5-2?

Put him in cotton wool and roll out your darling spuds of May

Because Showdowns are just as important as finals to them.

For people who are always leaving (in droves), these weirdos certainly feel the need to keep reincarnating.

Well actually you just made a bullshit troll comment, it wasn’t a general comment.

As for me reporting you it was a test given the warning I had received, good to see they actually saw your posting for what it is, trolling, you should hang out at Bay 13 if that’s what you get off on.

And again with the bullshit statements, I don’t respond to every post you make, just like I don’t constantly call you FIGJAM, did you go back and do the count? No, well I did, twice in 12 months.

I remember back in 2017 Talia thought he'd done a hammy, but scans showed no issue and he played the next week.

He wasn't feeling any tightness or anything though.

When were you trolling me?.. I didn’t even notice that you were..

Which is probably because I don’t really rate your opinions enough on here to take any real notice of them..

Your posts are yawn inducing nonsense most of the time..

Watching the replay, there's no way you can look at Rachele's game and say it was bad.

He was impactful with and without the ball. Important to our win.

I think the thing with Rachele is that his errors seem really to stick out? But his positives FAR outweigh the negatives.

McHenry also crucial in our first quarter to get the early lead. Again, on and off the ball. Obviously dropped off (perhaps to net zero?), but when the heat was on early he did what he needed to. Not sure there are many in the team who would give that shepherd to Tex.

In credit to McHenry, his work in setting up the Tex goal was one of his better pieces of play in his career, not only by causing the turnover, but he also made the team decision to stop running for the handball receive and instead got cleaned up laying the shepherd.
