Work Experience In Adelaide

I did it two years ago (and I live in Adelaide), here's some forewarnings:

- Do not do it at an Office. It's bloody boring and you have to wear formal clothing. It's 9-5, and really boring.

- Make sure, if you have to keep a log of it, you do the log entries every day and not the last day of it like I did.

- If your parents work at home try and do it with them. One of my mates spent a week watching TV and got an A for it.

- Don't pick somewhere boring. ;)

Im in Yr.11 in adelaide and I just got a placement at the Advertiser doing sports journalism for a week. They don't take Yr.10 students but if you are looking for something for next year then give it a go, it should be great...

Im in Melbourne and I did Graphic Design last week.

He said I was the same level as a 2nd year uni student which was promosing.

I thought it was really good but you'd wanna do something you like. Its really your choice in what you want to do for a career.

Next time im going to go to a bigger Graphic Design company and im going to be making cups of tea, etc but at least Ill know what everyone does in a bigger environment.

hmm no way! not a church. Yeh this 1st semester I have been doing Digital Design, maybe something like that Graphic thing u were talking about!

Umm why is a newspaper place good?

if you want more info choc-a-holic give me a buzz.

Also, Digital Design is the same as Graphic Design because Graphic Design is mostly done on computers now.

BTW; your so lucky you can pick Digital Design in Year 10!!! Wish I could.

Oh okay. What did you actually have to do there?

Hehehe yeah, some things we've been doing are : Movie Poster, Business Card including our face, um Car of the Future(renewing a old chevy), even having two half faces and making one side evil. That last one was probably my favourite because it was like what they do in the movies. The different visual effects! :D

Two years ago I did mine at a sports store and it was damn boring. I was stuck doing general household jobs along with other things like pumping up footy's, stocking shelves etc. Nothing exciting at all and I was buggered after one week.

In September I'm going to The Sunday Times (just for 2 days) and I'm looking forward to it.

Ahh a sports store seems like a good idea..but what i've heard from you, seems cr@p!

Another newspaper person, what could be so interesting about the newspaper factory is it?

Let me guess... Centrals?

I did my first lot at the Football Plus magazine (which has now been absorbed by Inside Football) with Ashley Porter, Hamish Arthur, Terry Brindle et al in late 1996.

They were preparing their 'Port Adelaide enter the AFL' special - great timing. Everyone was busy working on that so I got palmed off across the hall to another media business where I got to write a three-page article for Caravan World (the highest selling outdoors magazine in Oceania) with my name on the byline. Not too shabby for a fat 15 year old. I was rapt until I realised all the free magazines I was getting were a drop in the ocean compared to the money they were going to rake in for my work. Stupid insurance regs.

I did my second lot at Coast FM... boring as bat****. Was stuck in a transportable at O'Halloran Hill TAFE for a week with a parade of drunk drivers and fine-evaders knocking off their community service.

Coast FM was freakin' hilarious. I knew a couple of blokes who were doing a breaky show down there and I rocked in and ran amok on air. I doubt anyone was listening to that station anyway.
