Buckley was a Don Sheed miss from being a premiership coach. Always impressive to listen and he critiquing of games is worth listening.

I heard Adam Simpson on the radio over the weekend and while I enjoy listening to him and think he speaks a lot of sense he basically said that he doesn't believe in the backhalf gamestyle that is in vogue and doesn't believe it stands up in big games. Basically said it was a fad and that he expected front half football based in contest to ultimately win out in the long run.
So I'm a no to him off that.
Yeah. I’m sceptical of Simpson, pushing Goodwin out for a coach that took a powerful club with far more resources into joke territory after a flag is a big no from me. However, given we’re the same club that threw shit money after bad in re-signing Viney for 4 years after the Oliver contract, I reckon Simmo will be coaching us for the next 7-10 years. He comes across good in the media but I've always been a no to him. West Coast shows you all you need to know. I'd take Hinkley over Simpson.
Wouldn't surprise me if the board and CEO they appoint thought as deeply as "we can't get rid of a premiership coach unless we are replacing him with another premiership coach" ...makes perfect sense.Yeah. Thank you kind sir.Sure – should be able to now.
You only have to listen to him in the media though and he's clearly able to say what's happening with modern footy better than even current coaches. I doubt Buckley would come in and try and play 2015 footy.Bucks' game plans have been pretty defensive over his coaching journey. He could possibly evolve but I'd be concerned if we got him .

I think the balance is respect, you don't need to love your coach if you respect them.I don't really care if they are best friends with the players. You can still be ruthless with list management and get along great with everyone.
Is good at a rebuild and succession plan though.Think the game has well and truly passed him by now
Solid selection. Would also be groundbreaking as the first AFL coach to coach remotely from Canada. Snowy mountains satisfy our heritage though. Elbows up.
First thing out the door is this love bullshit. If blokes aren't punching on at training they aren't up for selection

Buckley is still the other option that I'd like (again, doubt he comes here). Good football brain, commands respect, holds people accountable.
Even though it flies in the face of the way that I like to lead teams, we don't need somebody to come in and be best pals with all the players. They need somebody that tells them honest truths and pushes them to get the best out of themselves. The arrogance/fear of change that has permeated through the club since a hot finals run four years ago has been the main thing that has held us back - enough coasting on that.
EDIT: I don't mean a Neeld type lol. Somebody with balance, and I believe Buckley and Longmire both have that.
He was footy director at the Giants for a bit. I'd take him as GM of football, but can't see him wanting to do it.I like the way Jimmy Bartel thinks about the game.
