Who came out ahead in this 3-way?
Im thinking Adelaide.
Why the Saints traded away Lynch I will never know.
Really, really important to our side.

Probably because he specifically requested to be traded to Adelaide, it was common knowledge. You should probably brush up on your own players before comparing them to others.

Maric is clearly the most important to his side, Richmond are a complete shambles without him and Deledio.

Maric plays such a vital part that he can be argued to be the most important part of that trade.

Lynch is a great player but Adelaide won't struggle without him when you have a forward line with Jenkins, walker and betts

Lynch was very poorly treated/used by Ross Lyon and it was no surprise at all that he asked to be traded. He was kicking ass on a regular basis across HB for us in the VFL, but I don't think Ross once gave him a chance in that role at AFL level and he'd give him about one game at a time up forward, and then drop him back to the VFL, to play in defence. Ross's development of "youth" was tragic back then. It was pretty much all about the "now" for him.

It's no surprise or coincidence that in Tom's first year at Adelaide he also struggled, only playing 6 games and averaging just under 10 disposals per game. It seems like it took them at least a year to get his confidence and so-on back. Like most of the few other young ones who survived being developed under Ross in his time with us (eg. Armitage, Steven, Stanley), he took longer to start really reaching his potential than most usually do.

We'd have no complaints at all about getting Jack Newnes with that draft pick though and he could even go on to captain our club once Rooey hands it over. Is the type who looks like he'll be a huge chance to play 250+ games.

Is averaging 27 disposals per game this year, is tough and hard, consistent, super-professional and uses it terrifically well, by foot in particular. Had a career-high 34 possies last week and yesterday had 25 at 92% efficiency against Hawthorn, so he's taken his game to a new level this season.

I don't see anyone having lost out of this deal.

Both Maric and Lynch were under appreciated at their clubs and pick 37 isnt a super pick in the whole scheme of things, so for all of them to work out is pretty rare really.
I understood that Ross didnt like Tom and that was why he wanted to leave.

The link work that Lynch provides, his two way running and his ability to kick bags of goals is so important to us. I think if he gets taken out of the game we could struggle.

this is a classic win/win/win trade we got a ruckman who has been great for us body starting to let him down but thats not his fault. adelaide got a player who turned around his career and the saints drafted well with the pick. each club is happy they all feel like winners

Stop saying Pick 37, it's Jack Newnes. We got Jack Newnes and we're very happy.

Tom Lynch: pick 13 in 2008, taken by St Kilda, 6 games in 3 years then traded to Adelaide for pick 37 in 2011

Tom Lee: pick 60 in 2008, taken by Adelaide, 0 games in 1 year and delisted with a year to run on his draftee contract, listed by GWS then traded from to St Kilda with picks 24 and 45 for pick 12 in 2012

Zany St Kilda...
