Longmuir should be looked at too given they just coughed up for Shai Bolton. If the Dockers style doesn't take advantage of him then there might be trouble.

The Fremantle Dockers seem to take positivity to levels that reach the absurd, with no pressure on the underperforming team and their coach with just one finals appearance in a decade. Their wins are talked up as being among the greatest achievements in football, no end of excuses are rolled out for their poor performances and failure to reach their goals, and Fremantle are touted as a superpower waiting to emerge, when in reality they haven't shown any signs of this at all.

Is Pollyanna the captain of the Dockers' AFLW team?

Pretty sure the rules were changed to be only a 6 month pay out. Not sure if it applied to existing deals or only new coach deals after the change.
That’s only for clubs who are AFL reliant for funding

We aren’t. It would be a negotiated payout

Moot anyway, Voss isn’t going anywhere. Finals in consecutive years will do

Nicks on the other hand! 5 years and no finals, this is his last roll of the dice

Agree with this.
Fremantle are chronically overrated.
Their 2022 was outstanding but have done bugger all since aside from beating up on the Dees - wow way to go Freo👍

We were sitting third and lost our Spine for the last month of footy against three eventual top 4 teams. Only lost each of the games by a kick or two and have a very young side whose best players are 25 or younger.

The media are projected forward and I’d be shocked if we don’t have a big window opening in 2025. We lost no experience for the first time in 6-7 years and added an A grade forward.

How would Melbourne go without Gawn, May & JVR (is that your best key forward?).

Nice read 👍👍
So many of their supporters we're telling WC that injuries are no excuse when we got hit ...not long after they we're saying the same thing about injured players missing killed their season....😂😂

Having a cheeky look on a ladder predictor.

By about Round 5, I imagine Brad Scott, Simon Goodwin (as a Dees man, I want him gone ASAP, so if we don't start well, see you later) & Luke Beveridge will be the most under the pump. I've got Essendon winless by that point and Doggies sitting on 1-4.

By Round 10, Matthew Nicks, Ross Lyon and once again if Brad Scott isn't sacked by this point, I'd 100% be sure that this would be around his last chance. I'm predicting all 3 teams sitting 15th-17th by now.

As of Round 15, with the exception of all previously mentioned coaches. The only other ones at this point I would mention would be Adem Yze/Andrew McQualter. But I imagine both clubs will be playing the long game and sticking by their man despite the teams potentially sitting on 0-2 wins at this point of the season.

Round 20 - 24 pretty much ditto to all mentioned above. At the conclusion of the season though, Ken Hinkley & once again Simon Goodwin to be the main focal points. Not making finals should be the final straw for both.

In order of most to least likely for mine:
1. Brad Scott
2. Luke Beveridge
3. Simon Goodwin
4. Ken Hinkley
5. Matthew Knicks
6. Ross Lyon
7. Adem Yze
8. Andrew McQualter

All the usual caveats injury etc....

Matthew Nicks - has to make the 8 to stay. Absolutely cannot survive otherwise.
Chris Fagan - safe
Michael Voss - likely has to win at least one final to stay. Coaching in year 4, had a bit of a down year in 2024 after looking like genuine contenders, so just has to trend better i think
Craig McRae - safe
Brad Scott - safe barring a massive slide off. Will be more about percentage and game style than where they finish.
Justin Longmuir - Year 6, big name recruit. Could be the first to go if it doesn't work out. Has to at least win a final to be safe i think.
Chris Scott - safe
Damien Hardwick - safe
Adam Kingsley - safe
Sam Mitchell - safe
Simon Goodwin - hard to assess. i think they will finish mid table. They will either back him in from there or sack him. If he makes finals i think he will be safe but otherwise 50/50
Alistair Clarkson - I think he needs significant improvement. Year 3. Percentage went backwards last year! I will say their percentage needs to be at least 80%.
Ken Hinkley - oh ken. What a strange figure. Given the back-up plan it's just grand final or bust isn't it?
Ross Lyon - safe barring wheels falling off
Dean Cox - relatively safe, would want to make finals, which is a bit of pressure in year one after a granny belting.
Luke Beveridge - I think he has to win a final at least. Pretty primed list and Bont peak years running out, keep flopping in finals, keep looming in season then dropping games.
Andrew McQualter - relatively safe. Lose some experience but gain some, won't want to be uncompetitive too often

Clarkson should already be gone but North can’t afford the payout.

If Port haven’t sacked Hinkley by now they never will.

Ditto Bevo.

Lyon should be in the discussion but he’s pretty much in charge of the whole club and won’t sack himself.

Another shit season by Melbourne and Goodwin has to be in the gun.

Longmuir and Nicks either play finals or get walked.

The rest seem safe.

Voss safe if blues miss finals?

It's so interesting how much weight some people put on the start of a season.

Were you writing off the Lions in 2024?

The Saints looked pretty poor in the first half of 2024 but ramped up their scoring and won 6 of their last 8 inc games over finalists Carlton, Geelong & Sydney.

Would you take those 8 games and say Lyon has credit if the Saints start poorly?

If the Saints, Bombers or Dogs start 5-0 would you be giving those coaches a long term extension?

1. Scott has basically sold a mini rebuild of some sort and will be as safe as houses.
2. Bevo, 50/50
3. Goodie, 40/60
4. Kenny, 50/50
5. Nicks, 50/50
6. Lyon, zero
7. Yze, zero
8. Minni, zero
9. Longmuire, 70/30

Goodie probably the first to go, then Kenny.

Pretty much agree but Clarko will be on a 6 month payout and Lyon probably shouldn't be in discussion unless something disastrous happens.
