The Shaw brothers in the 80s and the 90sRay, Tony and Neville Shaw

Brothers Albert and Harry Collier won 6 premierships and a Brownlow each - that's 12 premierships and 2 Brownlows between them! The Coventry brothers (Gordon and Syd snr.) picked up 1 Brownlow, 9 premierships and a heap of other accolades between them.Probably going to be the Ashcroft boys in a few years from now. One of them already has a premiership and a Norm at 20 years of age and the other was the highest rated prospect in this year's draft class.
It's entirely possible the Ashcrofts end up becoming the most success footy family in history. 4x premierships + a Norm Smith to date. Not a stretch to suggest they can/will add more premierships, Norm Smiths, AAs and Brownlow/s to that tally over the next 15 years. At that point they probably overtake the Abletts as the most successful footy family in history.
Fair enough. Accolades collected in the 1920s and 1930s seem a tad incomparable to what we've seen in the professional national league era, but the records are what they are. If Brisbane go back-to-back next year and both Ashcrofts are involved then their family has already equaled the Colliers in terms of total premiership won. Win another at some point over the next 15 years and they're just one flag behind the Coventrys. The gap could close very quickly if Brisbane take full advantage of their current premiership window.Brothers Albert and Harry Collier won 6 premierships and a Brownlow each - that's 12 premierships and 2 Brownlows between them! The Ashcroft family will probably enjoy a fair bit more success over the years, but it's very hard to see them getting close to what the above players achieved. Between a whole bunch of Ablett brothers and sons they did enjoy plenty of success, but they'd probably sit in third place - they don't come close to the achievements of the Collier brothers, and are a fair way off the Coventry boys as well.
The Colliers won 12 flags between them (6 each - I did point that out, but it must have been misread/missed). So still a long way to go for the Ashcrofts to catch them!Fair enough. My mistake. I read it as 6 total premierships for the Colliers and 9 for the Coventrys. The Colliers won 12 flags between them (6 each - I did point that out, but it must have been misread/missed). So still a long way to go for the Ashcrofts to catch them!
Brisbane are obviously very well placed; top of the tree right now, and with some wonderful young talent coming along. But the competition is incredibly even and unpredictable, and you can't take much for granted - three of the last four premiers have missed the finals the following year, so we'll see how things pan out!!
