I'll throw my $0.02, for better or worse:

- Nicnat: Self-evident reasons, really. First preseason in what feels like eternity and will have more scope to play the role best suited to his game without the looming shadow of Cox (nothing against the champ obviously).

- Agree with paran regarding Cripps. Has his detractors I know, but if he can get his execution refined he could be a real improver for us. You look at the stuff he tries to do but just doesn't quite pull of, I would suggest he has more footy smarts than most people realise. Footskills the query.

- Odd one, but Selwood: Just didn't look himself at all last season, and recurring injuries seem to have made his life difficult. Has already bulked up while injured and might find new strength keeping his head over the ball. That, combined with what I think are good outside running options, means his role might change a little and he could blossom this year.

Player who played last year but can improve and need to.

NicNat - obvious reasons, particularly if he gets through a full pre-season unscathed.

Darling - started last year fantastic but dropped away, more consistency = improved year.

Wellingham - going out on a limb here but hopefully being dropped a few times last year get's his head in the right spot for a big year. Should really be playing up forward and maybe wing, I don't believe he is as valuable on ball.

I'm not sharing everyone's optimism for Newman. He didn't show anything particularly spectacular in his first 2 seasons, and like Keyzer said, he hasn't played any footy apart from an average NAB game this year, since he walked out on his WAFL team in 2013. What has he done to get everyone so excited? It's like Tunbridge and his one tackle all over again.

He's starting from a fair way back. Sitting in prison isn't exactly a recipe for improvement. Got a feeling he'll play the majority of the year for EP and at best would play 5 games most for WCE.

Sharrod Underwhelmingham, will improve though. It will be a 'pass' year for him as he gets back on track and contributes regularly.

Colledge - was identified by Simpson when he arrived as a player that could be a regular. Was given chances and was underwhelming mostly. I'm hoping he's taken a lot away from 2014 and pushes to solidify himself in the midfield next year.

I'm really hoping Tunners does the same, but i reckon Colledge was more consistent for EP and looks more likely to take the next step. Obviously no injuries will also help these two..

Colledge got injured at the wrong times last year. Kneed in the face by Lycett in the Foxtel cup game, another injury and a suspension IIRC. Surviving a knee in the face from Lycett is a good enough season in itself

Forgot about Sheppard. Hope he puts on some size, showed some great signs pre injury. Make or break year for him IMO.
Damn straight. I wonder how long we'll give him...

A lot will depend on how big he can get this preseason. Looked great on the inside as a junior when he was thrown in there. Size and strength always his biggest area of improvement.

Will be interesting to see how much size players like Gaff, Sheppard, Masten, Yeo put on.

Gaff's role isn't to put his head over the ball and get it out, he is a receiver. He looked great in his juniors on ball and hes played some stints there in AFL every now and then. He was playing there a little more this season when there were injuries. As I said he is a player that spreads and works over his opponent from the transition from inside to outside, get players like Priddis, Selwood etc to feed the ball out to him when he is spreading to kick i50 would be beautiful.

Under Worsfold mids were quite lean to increase running capacty - Simpsons making size a key focus this preseason. Will be interesting to see the results next year.

I think bulking the mids/flankers up more fits perfectly with his strategy aimed at rotating more players through the midfield. You can afford to have bigger bodies and sacrifice a small amount of endurance when you have more players rotating through the middle.

Karps is one I think could add so much to our team. Hoping we pump games into him.
One thing that I like about him is that he seems very dual-footed, which is refreshing for an outside type in our side.

Im looking forward to seeing Hutchings and Selwood in the same team, at least you know they will make there opponents accountable ! Which I think has been our problem for a large part of the year !

100% agree and not sure why we want him to be an inside me all of a sudden. Teams have to tag him because his outside run and delivery to the I50 is superb.Don't mind him rotating there but not full time.

Woosha made some strange decisions towards the end of his tenure.
