I'm starting to think Gladiator II isn't worth seeing at the cinema.

I wasn't a fan of Gladiator, I saw it in a cinema in Belgium where they had French and Dutch subtitles that took up half the screen.

The subtitles weren't the problem though, I also saw The Perfect Storm there which I enjoyed a lot more than Gladiator,

The Killer's Game (2024)

Dave Bautista plays a hitman who is told he has 3 months to live and takes out a contract on himself so his girlfriend can get the insurance money. He subsequently finds out that he was misdiagnosed and must then fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.

There's an unlikely good chemistry between Bautista and Sofia Boutella, who looks as beautiful as ever. Ben Kingsley chips in with a minor role. It's an action movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. Switch your brain off for 90 minutes and enjoy.

6/10

The perfect storm is a brilliant movie and perfect to rewatch every 5-10 years, just when you forget how great it is.

65 - It sounded like it had an interesting plot - a space pilot (played by Adam Driver) landing on Earth 65 million years in the past in the age of the dinosaurs - but the execution was terrible and watching a DVD of the infamously bad Richmond vs. St Kilda game played in late 2016 (Saints beating the Tigers 8.5-53 to 6.8-44 in perfect weather conditions at the MCG) would be a more appealing prospect. An atrocious film in every aspect, no redeeming qualities, just flat out bad.

Red Rooms - Follows the court case of a serial killer accused of torturing teenage girls and profiting via red rooms (snuff films) and a woman who has taken a keen interest in the case, showing up to trial to watch the proceedings every day. Juliette Gariépy, who plays the woman, is so disquieting in her performance that when a particular scene happens it hits you like a ton of bricks. One of the performances of the year, and one of the films of the year. It's what Longlegs wanted to be. 9/10
Awesome this is on my list to watch, I completely forgot I had it on my rotation

Blink Twice (2024)
The final act just went to crap, it was building a nice bit of suspense and intrigue then just imploded like the Titan submersible.

Channing Tatum was well cast, lots of unexpected cameos too but it felt like they were all holding back, I mean c'mon you have Christian Slater in your thriller/horror and he doesn't bust out his trademark neurotic psycho persona.

Hard to recommend on the last act alone.
