Pick 3 - Richmond - Finn O’Sullivan
Oakleigh Chargers, 182cm Midfielder

A little bit of projection is required for O’Sullivan, given how injury interrupted his top age year has been. But his bottom age year was phenomenal. And with his physical attributes I’m confident he’s not the sort of midfielder that would have been found out or had some major flaws revealed as a top ager with greater exposure. He has all the physical tools teams want in a modern midfielder, has quality disposal, kicks goals and is good overhead.

I think he has a lot in common with last year’s number 2 pick, Colby McKercher. He could have a similar impact from next year, as a half forward, half back or wing. Before progressing to full-time midfield.

Pick 4 - Carlton - Sid Draper
180cm Midfielder

If O'Sullivan is number one on my board Draper is number two not tied to a club.

Draper is model of consistency and has proven over the last 24 months that he has what it takes to be a great player at the top level. If it weren't for injuries he likely goes even higher. Draper suits the modern day midfield mold perfectly with good burst speed and elite agility aswell as the drive and workrate required to do it for a full game.
Ontop of his onfield talents he is also the utmost professional and has future captain written all over him, what more could you want?

goodcop badcop up with Adelaide.

Yeah but he's got a face like a punched duck

Arghh wanted one of the three players taken.

Ok this is all your fault, I'm gonna go and bid for Leo Lombard at pick 5 now. Bidealaide wants speed and X-factor. Deadly Darcy
I've got this taking 38, 40, 48, 58, and 67, and still leaving Gold Coast 89.4 points in debt for 2025. Although someone should double check.

……. Recollections may vary about how good a season Leo has had comparative to his peers to go pick 5. However, he’s a Larke Medal winner and had an excellent championships. Yet another academy gift to the GC Suns.

GC match and look forward to their 9th place finish with an increasingly first class list.

Some famous Bulldogs who won the Larke Medal:

Steve Kolyniuk
Danny Southern
Josh Schache
Andrew Hooper

Adelaide select
Pick 6 - "Mick" Jagger Smith

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you just might find, you get what you need. This is pretty much the theme I'm going with on Jagga. Perhaps not blessed with high end pace, strength, sublime skills, game changing or wow factor you tend to look for in a top 10 pick. But what you get with him is a very consistent player, that goes all day and is highly reliable that will do most things to a very good level.

His elite endurance gets him from contest to contest, his ground ball game and footy IQ is what I see as his best attributes. With the high importance of ground ball gets, Jagga is the best in the draft at getting ground balls with his ultra clean hands and being able to retain possession with his good hand and foot skills in tight spaces.

He's just a very good footballer that will get the most out of himself which is exactly what every team needs. And with Crouch and Laird both in their 30's next year, Crows need to look at replacing these two.

Stats

2024 Coates Talent League 154 ranking points, 33.8 disposals, 4.7 marks, 7.9 clearances, 10.3 ground ball gets, 6.8 score involvements, 3 tackles, 0.6 goals (12 games)
2024 National Champs 135 ranking points, 29.3 disposals, 4.8 marks, 6.8 clearances, 9.8 ground ball gets, 6 score involvements, 2 tackles, 0.3 goals (4 games)
2024 VFL 103 ranking points, 27.3 disposals, 2 marks, 6.3 clearances, 14 ground ball gets, 4.7 score involvements, 2.3 tackles, 0 goals (3 games)

Thought about bidding on Kako here too and strongly considered Langford here too.

Charlie Bucket and Melbourne are up

Dodo / Mackie: If I'm giving up 2 for 6 + 11 I want a future second and a future fourth and I won't budge.

Any other list manager: Yep, sounds fair enough to me.

Gold Coast: Would you like our Pick 4 and a player to go with it?

But yes, I'm ok with that...
Seems LOLNorf are going the Gold Coast route and giving a future first also.

I don't understand what the **** is happening any more... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Pick 7 Melbourne:
Josh Smillie, Eastern Ranges FC

His under age year had him touted to go No 1 this year, but has drifted due to others rising over the last 12 months.

A big bodied mid in the Bontempelli mould. Good hands, clean skills and can play along other lines.

Although Melbourne have a strong midfield currently, question marks still sit over both Oliver and Petracca’s future, and so bringing in someone of Smillies ability, and physical attributes is a no brainer. Too good to pass on at 7.

All yours DiamondDogs8

In a surprise to absolutely no one, North Melbourne selects Alix Tauru, 193cm Key Defender from Gippsland Power.

D.O.B:16-11-2006

A high flyer in every sense of the phrase, Tauru has firmly planted himself in the draft bolter category. Considered a top 15 candidate, the 194cm defender certainly catches the eye with his aerial ability. He showed glimpses in the early part of the Coates Talent League season, before earning a call up from outside the Vic Country squad on the back of exceptional form in his return from injury. He attacks the ball fearlessly and is capable of playing above his height thanks to a terrific vertical leap. He’s one with raw potential and plenty of upside, especially having played in all kinds of roles recently."

Late birthday so he's still growing. Even grew 1cm between the time you typed your first paragraph and the time you typed your second.
