South East Academies.
With the ongoing encouragement and support from the Leagues and Clubs within the South East many young quality players have been given the oppor-tunity to represent the Glenelg Football Club in season 2018 directly due to these academies. The Glenelg Football Club provided four academies, at Mount Gambier, Millicent, Bordertown and Naracoorte Football Clubs. We sincerely thank the local clubs for offering their facilities. Our sincere thanks to Ciaron Buckley, Andrew Nitschke, Owen Butler and Scott Carberry as coaches of these groups. Casterton looking for a new home? Where would they go, south west district fl? Would that be suitable considering no juniors
Would that mean the rest of the wbfl clubs would be disbanded and obsorbed into another league
 
Casterton is very happy in the league and no intention on leaving. Where would they go anyway? They would be too strong for the South West competition and it's a bit of a stretch getting into the Hampden league.

My mail says we will be coming back in 2021. Many issues facing clubs and its best to not proceed in 2020.

Casterton are unfortunately effectively orphans - they got completely shafted when the WBFL split

COVID creates some problems for a few clubs but going forward the only logical outcome is a Major League and a Minor League involving the WBFL, Mid SE & KTNFL - only problem is SA AFL has zero $ to do it properly

What on earth do you do rivalries loyalties play a large part of the psyche in this neck of the woods, who possibly could take football by the scruff of the neck and redesign things for the long term benefit of the region. One thing for sure is that football here is grid locked and has slowly but surely died and creates very little definitive interest outside of family interest. Gone are the days of intense club and family rivalries. You could hand the premiership trophy to South even before the season got underway. MSE league offers a bit more but some teams have been struggling for decades.

There‘s an old saying if you’re struggling to find something to back in a race, always back “self interest“ it’s the only one that’s always trying.

The WBFL executive of the early 2010’s effectively blew themselves up by being arrogant and thinking that their league would survive unchanged because it always had.

The only constant thing in life is change. It is unfortunate that COVID has hit at the worst possible time for some clubs and associations and the SA version of the AFL Country has zero $$. I doubt if anyone is going to put their hand up to have it bitten off by inward thinking folks.
 
It’s been nearly 10 years since the review into football and nothing has happened - visions of forming a south east major football league as well as a new mount gambier club.
I feel sorry for the kids coming through, they may not have a much of a competition left for them to compete in.
 
I believe things will change, it’s just a case of how bad things get before they do
Some kntfl, Wbfl and mid se clubs came together last year to form a league due to covid. I thought that may have opened some minds up to other possibilities.
 
With the 2022 season only weeks away it seems like there is little or no interest in the WBFL.
Is the league dying a slow death??
There is no listed player movements at all, is it because there is none or very little or they are to lazy to list them?
Either way nobody seems to care?

Casterton / Sandford will play 2023 in either the South West or Horsham District league decision will be based upon whether South West starts juniors - I’d say it’s time for the reallocation of the WBFL, MIDSEFL & KTNFL

The league has been dead ever since the main Victorian teams left and crossed to the Hampden league. With Casterton likely to go soon, I’m not sure how a 5 team comp will work? Who in SA could be competitive enough to step up? I don’t know the Mid SE and KNT leagues well enough.

Player movements aren't listed on the website anymore now that footy has gone to the PlayHQ system.
