West Coasters Flag Prospects 2020

Funny you should mention accuracy as WC last year had one of the most accurate goal kicking years ever seen in the history of recorded statistics and could only finish 5th

Unfortunately for you blokes this doesn't mean you are a team filled with dead eye dicks who will continue to convert at a high level and are almost certain to revert back to the mean and is one reason statistical prediction models like squiggle don't rate your chances that high for 2020

Who cares what the squiggle thinks? It didn't rate us in 2018 yet if you go back and have a look at the record books, you'll notice west coast are listed as the 2018 premiers. If west coast finish with the same amount of wins as fremantle I'll upload a video of me eating my hat.

Well thats gosh darn interesting.Squiggle looking for reasons why it is consistantly 30 points short of the mark with the Eagles (except when the Eagles have a bad one that happens about twice a year on average) and thats the reasoning.Pretty lame.Sides lock in if they miss and get another shot on occassions The Eagles hit targets and dont have many or any kick and hope shots but rather use the ball well up forward etc. Some logical reasons for accuracy and not putting much stock into sqiggle excuses. It is a Richmond supporters bucket of crap after all.
Tell you what fine freo supporter you go with squiggle and I will go with comman sense when predicting the Eagles game results and we will see what comes out on top.

Using the ball well , not having unlikely pings , accurate kicks of the footy ...... all things that would seem to matter but history says they don't.

No team has ever stayed well in front of the competition year to year and no team has had such a gap on the comp as you guys last year 8% or something

It's a consideration when discussing your chances this year that's all but I would probably trust a guys 'comman' sense a bit more if they could at least spell it

Not saying that logic is a bit dated or anything but game plans change the amount of time professional players spend training skills change. The players given a green light by the coaching staff to go for goal from certain positions in certain situations where the coaches know they are a high chance of converting etc .Its all relavent
It is a bit of a stretch and a lot of excuse making by squiggle to say they were lucky in front of goals once for a whole season and it wont happen again.Sort simple biast victorian stuff. If you watch the Eagles forward line and how they operate its gives a better less simple explanation. Some players won't shoot for goals from outside the goal square where as others hit shots from angles .Its about who has a shot and who converts from where.
I made an effort to message with two hands. One holding the phone one pressing the buttons this time just for you my purple friend hope I did ok.

Richest and best club , best coach , best players , best supporters , best youth and now revolutionising the art of goal kicking

Seems like it's in the bag

They would have, but Geelong was never going to let Kelly go in 2018, and everyone knows it. They were within their right to hold him to his contract. But let's not pretend that Geelong were good actors in that scenario, they were not.
If a Victorian player wants to go home, they can select a club and out rolls the red carpet!!!

Eh we’ll see about Cotch. Banking on Kelly being as good as he was at Geelong is also a gamble. He should be good but may not as he could be complacent now that he is back home and on good money, time will tell

That’s a pretty desperate reach about Kelly. You’re grabbing at straws mate.

Kelly doesn’t need to go up a gear to add value to our team. If he plays every game and averages a goal and 6 clearances per game like he did in 2019 that will provide massive upside for the team overall.

Without nicnat we went 15-7.

Replace hickey with nicnat, masten with brander, add kelly to the midfield (probably pushing Hutchings out) and swap Rioli with jarrod Cameron and that is a significantly better team on paper than 2019 version.

Spot on 2020 is prob our last tilt. But a lot has to go right

It’s funny that. I think 2020 is the weird transition year where we are trying to get the most out of JK and Hurn while still pumping games in to our young players like oscarallen, Rotham and brander.

There is a feeling of a slight bottle neck at west coast in terms of their talls, with Williams and waterman also still on the books as well.

Not that I want JK and Hurn to retire, but when they do, I think that bottle neck will resolve and we are well set up for the future. Focus on the next couple of years should be good mids as we are still thin in the middle when you look beyond our top 6 (Yeo, Shuey, gaff, kelly, redden and Sheed).

Perhaps we can pick up the likes of Trent rivers and deven robertson and make a major play for Cripps as a free agent in 2021.
