It's in my nature to over analyse the way people speak and behave and draw hasty conclusions that are often correct but not always, so take this with pinch of who gives a **** but I watched and listened to a few Tauru interviews now and a few questions popped into my head.

Definitely not a timid sort, in fact quite the opposite! A lot of self-belief and almost a cockiness that I love, but I wonder what happens when he is faced with a coach who wants to hammer down the nail that sticks out. I wonder if BJ is that type.

He's got a highlight reel full of spectacular individual efforts like most players but his game seems to be fairly unaccountable, which is great when it comes off but if it doesn't, how will his coaches and teammates react to him running around flying for everything and how will he react to their reaction?

He is a pretty different character to Trav, a very cool customer, one might say a bit inward looking and intense - some people have difficulty with those types, especially in a team environment.

It almost seemed like he would have preferred to head to WA or QLD than stay in cold Victoria: I'd have him pegged as a flight risk if one of those clubs comes knocking.

Basically this is the same kind of hysteria parents like me have with their kids before they come to their senses, constantly imagining the absolute worst stuff happening to them: I'm sure young Tauru will be absolutely fine, but if I had any concern at all, it would be that!

If anything, I think BJ will be pumping him up in all the right ways.

When we drafted Phillipou there were a number of us glad to have a kid with a bit of arrogance, a bit of campaigner about him. Tauru feels like he's in much the same vein. He wants to be the best player at his club, if not the comp.

I won't be shocked if we see these two really pushing each other's buttons to get better year on year and then driving standards across the board as this new group grows up together.

Rooey and BJ mark 2?

I'll take it.

Christ, footy media is not known for intelligence or insight, but that interviewer was excruciating. Like having to talk with one of you idiot relations at family get togethers.

"You've got a birthday coming up, what's the go with that??"

How these kids avoid laughing at these turnips is beyond me.

I listen to Gippsland radio when I drive down there. It's an experience. They aren't attracting the big guns down there. This guy sounds relatively good in comparison to some.

When they ask him about school, he says "I do unsquats so I don't have exams" - what is "unsquats"?

I realise that's probably the wrong word but that's what it sounds like.
Instead of squatting down and then lifting up, you lift up and then squat down, all with a barbell across your shoulders...

Hope that helps?

Are the reports re stress fractures in Tauru's back legit a real concern?
If we needed him to play this week, yes. If we are looking at him being a 15 year player, no. Given that we knew about it prior to the draft they will be able to tailor his pre season to ensure he’s good to go.

Thanks for this Remboy - makes sense.

In terms of team dynamics, I think that having the skills and arrogance of Tauru and Arie Schoenmaker on the ground together will be delicious to watch. Each game could be a highlight reel.

Could have kicked 5/6 in this game.

Hope we play him forward tbh.

I see an aggressive tackling lead up forward.

Fogerty cross Naughton

I think he probably ends up a forward eventually but wouldn’t surprise if we play him down back for first couple seasons we did the same with Riewoldt back in the day

I'm loving the idea of Phillipou, Tauru and Shoenmaker all next to each other in the locker rooms, hopefully they bring out the best in each other.

For those wanting to wear a Viking helmet to the footy…TK Maxx are selling these at the moment!
