Really happy Nick got drafted.

Best way to describe him is Jayden Hunt. Runs like the wind and has a long boot. He generally plays half back or wing, and whilst his kick is penetrating he sometimes forgets to steady before kicking so it can go off at weird angles. Perfect fit for the Saints, I'm expecting him to line up on a wing round 1 barring injury.

The few times I saw him I thought that most of his times his skills were really good, but he often seems to run a little far and then kicks under pressure.

I agree I think he'll find a spot in our 22

Yeah, that's a fair assessment.

Happy with this pick. Called it few weeks back. Someone wasn’t happy though didn’t like his kicking. ☕
That was me. Like the fonz I can admit when I'm wrrrr.....wrrrrr.......wrrrrr. Oh bugger it! My fear is that like Wojo at the cats back in the day, he runs so fast sometimes, he butchers his kick. Anyhow, welcome and good luck, Nick.

He's a ready made senior player, and he breaks the game open when he runs with it (and he runs with it whenever he can).
He is thin but wiry and no problems with his strength in the contest. The only reason we wouldn't have gone with him earlier, or even last year, is that what he is good at is an area we already pretty well off in (McKenna, Saad, Fantasia, Tippa).
He is a very good pick up for a side that is looking for run and carry.

AFL DRAFT WATCH – NICK HIND
Nick Hind’s football has progressed rapidly since being a mid-season signing for Essendon’s VFL team last year.

The 181cm 23-year-old played two games for the Bombers late in the 2016 home-and-away season but flourished as a running defender/midfielder in his first full Peter Jackson VFL campaign this year, averaging 18 disposals and four inside-50s per game in 15 matches......

Wowee. This kid has afterburners.

Not the spicy curry kind though...

Love this pick. Exactly the type of player we need along with Parker/Young. Pace.

Hopefully will play most games on the wing at Marvel along with Parker/Young. Pressure & pace is king.

Welcome to the club Nick!

These mature age picks are gonna put a lot of pressure on for the last few spots in the 22 each week.
Its a good thing for the club with pressure to perform everywhere on and off the field now.

Absolutely.

Big fan of the changes we’ve made offield & the recruiting this year.

Very happy to see we’re starting to address one of our biggest weaknesses in speed/pace.

The article from The Roar says the saibts are confusing because they picked 3 mature players. I think the saints thought we need some older players and we need quick players. Lets try this way.
Hope its not a case of a terry milera

Hope it works

I know it’s a big ask but the free 7 app has about 6 or 7 of essendons games on demand if you want to know how he plays watch a couple.

He is unlike anyone we have with maybe the exception of Steven in so much as he uses his pace as a weapon. He looks quick and a decent kick when he has time or a set shot. Now don’t get me wrong we can potentially use this guy he may well play some senior footy just remember that Billings, Sinclair and lonie for example get 35 plus and dominate at this level.

He’s a very different player to them it will be interesting to see how we intend to use him, if he’s got a left foot I haven’t seen it so far but he really does run flat out.

I don't think he's going to be the type of player that finds a heap of the footy. Much more like am Adam Saad who only needs to get his 16 or so touches to make an impact.

He's definitely a very different type of player than anyone on our list which should work in his favour.

Yeah - he definitely plays like Saad and I reckon that once Saad turned up he knew it was game over at the Bombers.

Will be interesting to see how he goes and what our selectors do with our new speed weapons - Hind, Kent, Young and Parker.

From what I've seen, all four would rank in the top 5 fastest players in our team.

We were going to draft him this year before you guys swept in.
