the police have just embarrassed themselves. they should be embarrassed. to go so far to let everyone know what happened and to bring the media into it so quickly, it just so stupid.
ben cousins sacking may still have occurred but the whole state turned on ben cousins like he had f*cked them over so badly. the investigation is still ongoing but those police who thought they were so good, should be so ashamed.

How dare they lay charges for something which isn't illegal.How dare they pull over a car with a known drug user in it that's driving erratically.
How dare thay lay charges for an offence were at the time of charge they have no hope of reaching the burden of proof.
The first one is cleary incomptence. The second one could be incomptence or it could be an abuse of power which wouldn't be to out of character for the WA police.

Are you saying that the police shouldn't be required to have a working knowledge of the law and that they are free to lay as many frivolous charges where their is no hope of conviction?
still didn't have to refuse the drug test...some of you people need to harden the **** up! its boring already, its done..it won't be undone..and Ben Cousins is no ****ing saint. the bigger crime is letting the story run australia wide of the possession of drugs charge .WITHout saying what the drugs were.Every-man ,woman, and child had a opinion which presumed the worst.
One of the critera for charges to be laid is that their is a reasonably chance of convictions. If you have 3 people in a car and without being able identify who the drugs belong to their is no way of every being able to prove beyond a reasonalbe doubt the guilt of anyone of three people.
If it happens all the time their needs to be an over haul of the system bcause in some cases the possesion charge is just as damaging to the person as an conviction.
Refusing the drug test is a completely seperate issue and has absouletely no bearing on the possesion charges.
"The following drugs were seized from the vehicle: OxyContin, which is a prohibited drug, diazepam, Viagra ... and a $20 note which preliminary indications and analysis show traces of MDMA, which is ecstasy and cocaine," he said in Perth
