Votes Carlton def Geelong

Nice one. Not that I was even having a stab at Carlton in particular, just don't agree with the votes or Gibbs ability to play in the midfield w/tag. Trust me, the sweetness of witnessing 2 Premierships in person overpowers any 2010 round 5 sourness. Only 3 days of this week to go. Enjoy it.
I was front row 1995 to see god in hell. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

Wow a whole 2 ! ..i guess that must be pretty special considering you wouldn't have seen any others in your lifetime...obviously you must be a tad lost because you are in the Carlton forum where a lot of posters have seen their team win 4-7 premierships depending on age.

Make that none for me, Blues_Man. Only 5 in 95, unfortunately.

Carrazzo was playing a shut down role in the midfield and still ended up with a heap of the ball you goose.

Exactly... what does that say about the laziness/lack of effort from the player he was shutting down? He, like the majority of the Blues players, ran hard, tackled and generally worked much harder than the Geelong side on the day. Hence the win. Hence Ablett's comment in the HS today, blaming "lack of effort" for the loss. Good win for Carlton, although I'd like to see the teams go at it when both are competing at their best, too bad we didn't get to see that on Monday.

But Geelong were at their best. They'd just beaten Port by 95 points. Carlton shut them down from applying pressure that they couldn't handle. You claimed Carrazzo got his kicks hanging around loose at half back, he didn't, he got them from out playing his opponent in the midfield. Just admit you got beaten because you weren't good enough.

"Carlton shut them down from applying pressure that they couldn't handle." WTF?

Delusional... but hey, that's OK. Why couldn't you beat the rabble that is Essendon at your best? Winning a game by 95 points one week, then not turning up the next isn't uncommon... just like suffering a shock loss one week, then belting whoever you play the week after is common. This is a regular thing in the AFL as INTENT and HUNGER are very important in an even competition and was the difference on Monday. Geelong had neither.

Absolutely Geelong were beaten because they weren't good enough. How is that disputable? But to say Geelong were playing at their best shows you either don't watch enough football or don't understand the game.... which is it?

Carrazzo was brilliant.

Sin - my view on footy is that the number of disposals a player gets is fairly irrelevant - quality is crucial. The ability to maintain possession and put the ball - if not in their hands - to the forward's advantage can make or break a team (see Blues v Bris rd 2). with players zoning when not in possession AND running forward when in possession, turnovers hurt big time. I couldn't care less about the votes you've thrown up - If your coaching and playing experience tells you that Carrazzo was better than Ablett ( or that Garlett was better than Judd) - then you go right ahead living in a dream world.:)

So true.

I noticed one bad kick from Carrazzo for the whole game. Can you point out some more for me? You don't get that many of the coaches votes and get in the best players after a team performance like that unless you have a very good game.

It's true.

In what way were we at our best? We didn't have Judd, who is the best player in the league and our match winner and we didn't have Bower who is possibly our best defender. We were also too tall and slow in the forward line which we've fixed.

I suggest you review the game a little more critically and pay more attention to his handballing - and regarding best players/coaches votes - do you honestly agree with those given or did it just serve your purpose?????

I've reviewed the game, apart from one really bad kick his game was excellent. Best game for the season, better even than his game against Richmond. I gave Carrazzo three votes if you have a look on the first page of this thread so I hardly think I used them just to serve my purpose. Definitely in the best players and deserved the votes he got, even if Ablett deserved more.
