Lewis Johnston for me at 17yrs old this kid is going to be a gun big forward.Had a super carnival and took so many contested marks and dominated in a poor SA side .He is quick ,agile ,nice mark etc and kevin sheanan rates him big time.Honestly no more midfielders ,and this crap best avaible we need KP players to put the cherry on the cake a gun forward and a ruckman:thumbsu:

Errrr McKernan is an absolute gun and would thrive at Richmond. Play him at CHF and free up some of your other blokes and when he has filled out his body a bit more unleash him in the ruck. He's a fantastic prospect man.

On Mckernan the worry is he is only 196cm and isnt that to short to be a number one ruckmen eventhough his leap is great?

Simmonds is 196. White was 195/196. Two of the best ruckman of the last decade.

With the four boundary umpires and the game speeding up considerably mobile ruckman who can either get around the ground and/or be versative enough to play at an end will be invaluable. If Putt comes good as a forward he will be able to do the duties in the forward half of the ground while Patto rucks in the middle and back half. McKernan can play back, forward and ruck. He had the highest percentage of taps to advantage in the under 18's this year.

On Trengove: he is so highly rated by the Cannons staff and his footage is unbelievable. Destroyed Kruezer and has a massive massive leap (or did before injury). I think that if he gets over his injury he will be featuring quite highly in Mike Sheans top 50 for quite some time once he has a couple of season. Absolute freak but is also a footballer.

4 boundary umps wont make much difference...They might catch 2 or 3 more OOBs, and do them a little bit quicker, but it wont be that big a deal.

I must admit my opinion is shifting. I was in the 'grab a mid' camp ( Hartlett, Ziebell, Sidebottom, Yarran ), then I figured we needed a KF who could take a match apart, so shifted to Johnston.

Of late however, it's occured to me that Johnston is (broadly) the same size and type as Hughes/Riewoldt, so I've been shifting to Trengove to provide a power forward for those 2 to work around. I'm stil not sure ( seems most of his KPP work has been down back ), but that's the way I'm leaning at the moment.

McKernan would seem to 'fit' the role I want filled too, but he tends to strike me as a short ruckman/OK KPP ( Patto anyone? ) and I'd rather a specialist. ( yes, I know trengove does both too, but it's a matter of degree )

I'm the same, Trengove seems to be a very tuff KP footballer.
I've read some accounts of Last years top ruck prospects (Kreuzer,McEvoy) actually feared playing against him becuase he was so physical and dominant on his opponent.

This was Last year when he was bottom age!

Its been widely regarded on the draft board that if not for his injury he would be top 10 for sure but will still go first round.
I'd be happy with him

Trengove or Hartlett for me, considering how unlikely Vickery is to fall. Either one would be great. Hartlett is probably the safer choice but Trengove really goes to help address list needs. I'd say given that, the RFC would choose Hartlett.
Don't take this as a critisicm, but you are obsessed with "list needs" as if they are the be-all and end-all of drafting. Our list has quite a good up and coming midfield, but need ruckmen and KPF's.
Just because we have a good midfield, doens't mean that we couldn't fit in another good midfielder, if they are good enough to gain a spot. It's not like our midfielders are all so good that you don't need anymore. Some, White for instance, good young up-and-coming player, but if we could get, for the point of this post, Hartlett, and he was an improvement on White, then it will create much needed depth, which is just as important as having at least one listed player of each position.
But as I said, that isn't a criticism, at least you've got the balls to offer some of your own thoughts of what you believe we need/should get, unlike some other "pessimists" (not that the branding means much), who just say what is wrong with the list without offering alternatives. :thumbsu:

I didn't say which one I'd go for because I don't know who is the better player. Pick 8 should go for best available over list needs. If Hartlett is the best available, then I wouldn't have any problems getting him.

watched a essendon keilor vs pegs game a year ago saw mckernan and trengove go at it in the ruck and mckernan had the better off him , in fact mckernan went off after half time with a rolled ankle when essendon keilor were up by 4 goals and that pegs went on to rally to a 6 goal win, mckernans leap is unbelievable and he could really be anything really good body shape to put size on and become a dominant ruckmen realy hope we get this kid, and hopefully sumone can look on2 this post in a couple of years when he is an all australian ruckmen

Yeah I realise that, I was saying good on you for sticking to your line of KPF over mid, whereas some will just wait to see who we pick up and bag the pick saying we should have gone a different type of player.

If we decide to take a quality small (Zeibell,Hartlett,Sidebottom) Trengove (who I favour taking with our first pick) will be gone by our second pick. Our attention should then turn to players such as Scheonmaker or Lynch with our second pick. A speculative Ruck should round off the day with our last pick.

i picked Hartlett in my draft game in the phantom drafts section- would everybody be happy with that or would you prefer A KPP. i only took Hartlett because hes best available but if i had to fill richmonds needs i would have chosen Trengrove or possibly mckernan

I seriously like the cut of Trengove's jive. If it wasn't for his injury, he'd be a definite top 10 and possibly top 5 pick. Remember the last player like that, a certain Joel Selwood? Of course just because it's happened before doesn't mean it's guaranteed to happen again by any stretch, BUT we should at least be aware of it.

For mine out of the mids, I'd have Hartlett, then Ziebell, then.............. Sidebottom.

Would be more than happy if we jagged Trengove at 8 however.
