Sorry for going back to this, but... We cut Eyre because he's made of tissue paper, and when he did make it onto the park he looked completely hopeless for the most part.

Like Keeffe in his final season with us, we somehow thought it was a good idea to play Eyre forward despite it not working previously. A game or two forward I get, but we persisted too long, which did Eyre no favours

Lachie Keeffe continues to get games as a forward in the AFL for a side going deep in the finals most years, so I don't think you can really suggest that was a mistake to try him in that role.

He must be a great bloke. No idea how he has survived on thier list for so long, let alone getting finals games.

Did he though? Could have just as easily used Riccadi, Cadman or even Himmelberg in the role. Or thrown young Madden or Preuss a bone (were they available or injured?).

“It just felt right after seeing the place and knowing the rich history of the club, and also growing up a Collingwood fan.


“Once I had a conversation at the Pies about where they think they can take my footy it all happened quickly – it was a long wait initially but then once I knew VFL was the next step it all happened quickly.”

The 24-year-old emphasised on his desire to play at the top level again, reflecting on current Pie Lachie Sullivan’s position, after being picked up via the pre-season supplement selection period (SSP) earlier this year.


“I definitely want to be playing AFL footy again and hopefully the pathway to playing VFL here and then potentially playing for Collingwood in the AFL would be a dream come true,” Taylor said.

“You take confidence from seeing guys get elevated from the program and even going back to them using SSP spots on guys like Lachie Sullivan.

“The goal for this summer is just to get as fit as I can to give myself the opportunity to have a good season.”

They're adults and know its a cut throat business. But Josh clearly recommended the club to Ryan. He wouldn't have agreed if it was gonna be awkward.
Whenever I watch Ryan, I always think he needs to loosen up a bit. Always looks so stressed and serious at training lol But guess he was trying to show he deserves a spot.

Generally more toward list lodgement before the season. But post christmas, you get a sense who has and doesn't have a spot as it gets rounded down pretty quick

Keeffe was at least proven as a defender at AFL level. Eyre didn’t look anything special in defence at VFL level.

Reckon we are only a couple of strong signings short
One of our bigger issues is we just don’t seem to scout guys from the local leagues as well as say Richmond VFL for example

Such a shame Kerr did his knee, would have loved to get him through this year. Keen to watch him in the VFL. Would be a lock for next years draft I assume?
