VFL 2025

Star fullback Nathan Cooper has retired after 56 VFL games and a Premiership. It's a body blow for the bees.

Cooper, Coughlan, Riley Bice & Aiden Johnson will be very very hard to replaced for the Bees. Particularly Cooper and Johnson. Not easy to find talls for the stand alone sides.

They’ve lost Annard & Northam to the SANFL as well, so their ruck depth will be tested too.

I know they tried hard to get Sellers, but the link to AFL with Essendon was too much of a draw card.

Coburg, Frankston and Port Melb have done well. Werribee have brought in youth but they've lost experience players.

Port Melbourne recruiting is the Port Melbourne of old. Won't surprise to see them bounce in a big way
All of our former VFA standalones appear to be excelling in the recruitment arena. It would be interesting if eight out of the nine finished in the top eight?

While this outcome is possible, it remains highly improbable. Should this occur, it would represent a significant setback for the AFL, potentially accelerating the introduction of an AFL reserves competition.

As we look forward to next year’s VFL season, keep a close watch on Port Melbourne! This club has a strong history and continues to recruit effectively. With an abundance of new talent both on and off the field, they are unlikely to stay at the bottom of the ladder. They are well-positioned to make a serious impact.
