I hear that one used so often, I forget what it actually means!
It's like they think it's the abbreviation of "Lackadaisical"

The only time I hear "laconic" on the TV is by AFL commentators. None of them know what it means and, yes, I think you are right, Slime Roy, they are mistaking it for "lackadaisical."

Age Footy Podcast. I know you peanuts read this forum so can someone tell Peter Ryan, who has a high opinion of himself, how to pronounce Shai Bolton's first name?

The AFLW player who also pops up on said podcast, and is terrible but it's early days, also incorrectly pronounces it. It's staggering this still happens given that Jack Riewoldt, while a player, made this clear during a much-publicised interview AND the media each year gets a list of how to pronounce players' names.

Kinda surprised that Niall and Gleeson, who appear on the podcast and who are very good, haven't had a quiet word to these repeat offenders.

So incredibly frustrating!
One of the best players in the comp (for multiple years) and they still don't get it right.
Shai IS a name whereas Shy is not.. as far as I know (except for Shy Ronnie😉)

It's up there with Connor Rosey for mispronounced names (and he even did a video!)
No one in SA mispronounces it.
I'd like to think they'd get it right if he played for a Victorian Club
but Shai Bolton would say other wise!

Perhaps you should tell us :). I would say Shay.

I've got a theory that Tony Shaw struggled to get a word in when he was growing up, because he rarely finishes hid sentences. He's gotta quickly get to the next sentence before someone interrupts him :p
… before he runs into a tree.

One thing that's really chafing my comprehension at the moment is players saying..
"As I Said"
Yeah, please don't try and take the higher ground here sport.
I'd wager a bet you wouldn't be 100% across what was said by anyone (yourself included) not but ten seconds ago.

Daisy Thomas on channel 7 refers to Chol as laconic.

I think the war is lost, may as well just change the dictionary definition.
Congradulations is now pretty much universal too 😟
