A lot of local cricket clubs are getting smaller, clubs that used to use 2 or 3 grounds over summer are now only needing 1 or 2 due to having less teams. I would say this would be a year by year proposition if a footy club manages to get a summer tenancy.

I'm with you. Fair's fair - 50/50.
More like 80:20

Footy clubs can train on off nights for cricket, but cricket can’t train on the off nights of football due to no light, wet grounds etc.

At the Pine we could (Council permitting) have the ground 100% of the year as, the ground is only used on alternate Saturdays. It’s never used during weekdays.

VAFA getting rid of Reserves in Prem B women for no apparent reason. Explanation please
This was raised at our AGM and we were told this was a mistake by the VAFA and shouldn’t have been published, yet it still hasn’t been amended on the website. Apparently Premier B Reserves isn’t going anywhere. The reason given for the removal of the grade which was “competitive balance” is a bit of a furphy given only 1 team out of 8 was uncompetitive.

Interesting conversation with a recently elected bayside councillor. The council have received 2-3 inquiries from football clubs about the option of obtaining 12 month leases on grounds, as opposed to the ground share agreements with summer based sporting clubs.
I am strongly opposed to this, clubs can share facilities.

I hope this is right. If they did remove reserves it would make women’s footy programs at these clubs very challenging to manage and destroy years of hard work.

Also, a hearty congratulations to Ormond best and fairest winner from 2023, Luke Kennedy on being drafted by the doggies. I'm sure that bedford will be a happy man.
