I couldn't give a **** about numbers. I don't get why so many people care. It's just a number to identify a player.
Give em which ever number they want. No one would care that Lalor was #4 if he was delisted in 3 years. Well maybe the number nuffies....

Don't think it's relevant whether the fans care.
What's relevant is that the players care what number they get. Hardwick knew this hence made'em earn it.
If you've ever played footy then you know most players care about their number.
Hope we offer lower numbers to Campbell, Lefau, Brown, Mansell maybe a couple of others. If the newbies earn the respect of the group then they'll have the same opportunity to upgrade in years to come
I think all the players should be in numbers I would like to see them in, no one else’s opinion matters.
Hardwick made "some of them earn it"
Cotchin and Riewoldt went straight to famous numbers.
The facts are, for these kids, most of the numbers available are from 3 time premiership players. No bad numbers available.

Could be wrong but pretty sure Hardwick implemented the high numbers for draft picks post 2010, i.e. after he arrived.
And there's plenty of high numbers available

From memory Cotch had his own controversy around his number as well when he refused to take 17 off Newman after Cotch was given the captaincy that had become a bit of a tradition for the captain to wear 17

My sons just turned 3 so i was going to buy him his first jumper.
