Economic turmoil has caused the price of oil to collapse below the US break even price for producers.
The notices for lay offs in the US oil industry have started rolling out..
US oil production is about to collapse, all courtesy of the Drill baby drill president.
However, the price drop will not be permanent as Opec will move to raise prices eventually.
But the US oil industry is unlikely to be able to, or want to, respond.
His cult will of course point to the low point of prices as proof that Trump is good for keeping prices low and ignore the turmoil caused and it's very temporary nature, just like they did last time.
When they rise, it will be nothing to see here, until after his presidency, when they will say the rise occured under his successor. Like last time.
They will take the high point of rig counts, which he inherited from Biden, and blame the fall on wokism, environmentalism, or communism or something else they don't understand.
It's all so depressingly predictable.

The tariffs they announced as being reciprocal, based on the tariffs against the US, but people quickly worked out that this wasn't the case, by reverse engineering the numbers.
The imposed tariffs were based on trade deficits, not tariffs, which is dumb, because if a country produces a lot of something you need, but you don't produce anything they need, a deficit is the only possible outcome. If it upsets you, don't import that thing you need. Like, I run a trade deficit with my local supermarket.
But, it turns out, the large language based AI models, like Chat GPT, consistently misinterpret tariffs and trade deficits.
They asked ChatGPT to work out the effective tariffs and and non tariff trade barriers, and a formula to then work out what the reciprical tariffs should be.
But Chat GPT just applied that formula to the trade balance, and they were too dumb to check the numbers it gave them.
I think the first day they were out genuinely arguing, No, it's based on trade barriers imposed on us.
I wonder at what point it dawned on them?
