Lets see if we have this right.
The US encourages companies to move production out of China, to places like Vietnam. So, Vietnam is making shoes etc, that the largest consumer market in the world sucks up like a giant vacuum cleaner. So, now Vietnam has a trade surplus with the US, making cheap shit for US consumers in factories the US helped set up, so they could buy cheap shit from them.
Now, because the US runs a trade deficit with them, the US has decided to impose reciprocal tariffs, except they aren't. They take the trade deficit, with Vietnam, that they created, divide it by trade volumes, do some Chat GPT hocus pocus, and impose a tariff, telling the US people its tit for tat tariffs, except they aren't based on Vietnamese tariffs at all.
With Australia, they cant do that, because they dont usually run a trade deficit with us.
So, they should be happy, but no, everyone running a trade deficit with the US, just gets a flat 10%.
Holly ****, its breath-taking in its stupidity.
And he tells the American people that its to bring jobs back to the US. Except as big and as ****ing dumb as they are, the tariffs arent big enough. The price differential between making this shit in Vietnam or Mexico or China, and making it in the US, is so big, that even with the tariffs, the US cannot compete on price.
So, the prices will go up, the giant Orange toad will suck up middle Americas hard earned, and jobs will not come back to the US.
But, its OK, Im sure we will discover its all Biden's fault, or Wokism.
No history buffs among the Maga crew, evidently.Greatest increase in the tax burden on middle America for over 30 years.
It's amazing how many of them haven't figured out that all the "make them foreigners pay" rhetoric is a smoke screen for what is essentially a great big fat consumption tax.
All to fund the net round of rich man tax cuts.

Markets are now pricing in a recession this year. Genuine depression risk as Eu, China reciprocate.
Red states are going to cop it harder than blue states in the US.

I can't tell if this is satire or not, always a good signAll across the world everyone is now an Economist.
You watch it though, renting a house will be unaffordable, basic food prices will go through the roof, house prices will get to insane numbers.
The glory days are over peoples.
Remember when the Biden admin tried to gaslight their citizens that two negative quarters of growth no longer meant a recession.No. No it didn't. Global markets have fared quite well in the past two years.
A recession generally refers to a fall in GDP in two successive quarters. That did not occur in Australia or in the US.
