He got my attention a couple of months ago and I've seen a few of his clips. He couldn't get anywhere near the inauguration and he did a little clip standing in a crowd a few blocks away, so I think that might suggest he isn't on the payroll. Not yet anyway.

Senator Wong was sitting a few rows back at the inauguration ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda for Mr Trump’s address while Australia’s ambassador to the US, Kevin Rudd, was seated with the diplomatic corps as part of the overflow in the Emancipation Hall.
