You have to admit m8, the sunrise in Brissie this morning was just... brighter than usual? There's a feeling of peace and optimism in the air.

EasternTiger and I just belted out a mean rendition of Wind of Change at the karaoke after party - a positivity filled song fitting for the occasion. I can't believe I agreed to follow it up with MMMBop by Hanson... oh who am I kidding, I insisted on it.

This may annoy a few
Mr. Biden’s action pardoned James B. Biden, his brother; Sara Jones Biden, James’s wife; Valerie Biden Owens, Mr. Biden’s sister; John T. Owens, Ms. Owens’s husband; and Francis W. Biden, Mr. Biden’s brother.
It sets such a horrible precedent.

It means that this time in office, Trump could get away with pardoning whoever he wants!!

He might do some crazy stuff, like:

Imagine if he pardoned Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Stephen K. Bannon, and George Papadopoulos?
Or he might pardon or reverse the sentences of three American soldiers convicted or accused of war crimes in Afghanistan or Iraq.
He might even issue pardons to seven Republican congressmen convicted of crimes: Chris Collins, Duncan D. Hunter, Steve Stockman, Rick Renzi, Robin Hayes, Mark Siljander, and Randall "Duke" Cunningham.

I mean, just imagine for a moment if Trump were to grant clemency to at least ten healthcare executives and doctors convicted in large-scale Medicare fraud schemes??

Ah well. I'm sure that won't happen.
The worst part is how last minute it all is with Biden! Makes it seem so suspicious and corrupt.

In his last full day in office, Trump granted 143 pardons and commutations, including to his former chief strategist Steve Bannon, Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy, and former Republican congressmen Rick Renzi, Robert Hayes, and Randall "Duke" Cunningham. He also commuted the sentences of dozens of people, including former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and sports gambler Billy Walters; the latter had paid tens of thousands of dollars to former Trump attorney John M. Dowd to plead his case with Trump.

Imagine if the only thing that made you view an abuse of power of the pardoning system as good or bad, is by the name attached to it.
Imagine if you support it when Trump does it, but oppose it when Biden does it. And convince yourself that you have logical reasons to do so.

It's all hypothetical anyway. Trump would never do anything like that.
But if he did, it's only because he needed to and it was the right thing to do. Deepstate blah blah

Trump will pardon his family this time around. Biden has set the precedent. I suspect the next 20 years will be like this with pardons.

Both sides are guilty of the same thing. No gotcha moments here at all. Just accept it’s a corrupt system for anyone involved and move on . The pardon system is and always will be a absolute joke

Are you kidding?

Democrats and large sections of the media first labelled anyone questioning the 2020 election as 'election denialists'. This despite the Democrats having a long history of questioning election results themselves. Then once the mid-terms approached the level of rhetoric increased to "Election Deniers Are A Threat To Democracy".
No the people who tried to create fake elector slates (their own terminology there), who asked state reps to 'find' enough votes to flip states and pressured the VP to ignore the constitution were the "threat to democracy".

Again, ignoring the confirmed facts of what actually happened and pretending the totality of those efforts were nothing more than "asking questions" does you no favours, ridiculous stuff.

Bill gates eager to secure some funding. This time he apparently has a cure for HIV and instead of going all in with his immense personal wealth to end the scourge of humanity he is seeking handouts. No doubt he will make sure the patents are upheld so the poorest people will never have access to it.

Exactly my point mate. He probably will, ably supported by Trump now that Bill has kicked in some cash and bent the knee.

And the conspiracy minded Trumpers who have spent the last 5 years painting Gates as the literal devil somehow won't have a single word to say about it :tearsofjoy:

They don't actually have any core beliefs or principles. Just clap like trained seals at whatever Donnie is churning out regardless of the intent or action.

the idiocy of people claiming Musk rigged PA is priceless.
That group now includes Trump :tearsofjoy:

TRUMP: "And he knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, those vote-counting computers." So the implication is somehow Musk rigged the count.
That certainly would be the implication if Biden had said that about a billionaire oligarch who'd supported his campaign in 2020, yes.
