PS4 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

I enjoy that though, I play for cutscenes and story development.

Yeah same, the presentation is just so good I can't wait to get through the level and get to the next cutscene. Plenty of other games out there that prioritise gameplay if that's your thing.

Game play modifiers (not that you have to use them) make trophy clean up a breeze.
Slow motion the final boss. Bullet Time + aim lock (which you can turn back on even in crushing) + unlimited ammo + gun select the barok .44 to clean up head shot trophies (particularly the 20 head shots whilst swinging from rope) and the "do 4 different kills in 15secs" trophy (very hard to get stealth, melee, headshot then explosion kill without using bullet time for the head shot all inside 15secs)

Having encounter select (with restart encounter) + all of the above, I have a feeling they wanted people done with trophies quickly so more people are on multiplayer.

Huge opening week in the UK
It’s both the first and final new adventure to arrive on PS4 for developer Naughty Dogs’ flagship series (although the remastered trilogy came to PS4 in October last year). In terms of debut week sales ‘Uncharted 4’ is by far the most successful launch in the series beating ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception debut week by 66%

Retail numbers only. so Digital will push it over 200K in just the UK
[Week 49, 2007] UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE (SONY COMPUTER ENT.)
[Week 42, 2009] UNCHARTED 2: AMONG THIEVES (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 84,000 / NEW
[Week 44, 2011] UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 115,000 / NEW
[Week 08, 2012] UNCHARTED: GOLDEN ABYSS (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 27,000 / NEW
[Week 41, 2015] UNCHARTED: THE NATHAN DRAKE COLLECTION (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 39,000 / NEW
[Week 19, 2016] UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) - 192,000 / NEW

And for Current gen examples on action adventure exclusives
[Week 46, 2015] RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER (SQUARE ENIX EUROPE) - 42,000 / NEW

and about 50K more then Halo 5.

It also beat Halo 5 by over 40K in its first week.

First week for top selling Exclusives in the UK alone.
[PS4] UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END - 192,000
[XBO] HALO 5: GUARDIANS - 150,000
[WIU] MARIO KART 8 - 69,000

Poor Tomb Raider :( hope it gets better numbers later in the year when its released on PS4, really good game.

You can blame SE for that, by signing one of the worst timed exclusive deals. its already cost peoples jobs at Crystal Dynamic.

It might of cost them the Tomb Raider series, square enix are already scaling back triple A production.

They will now be thinking about if they do another game or reboot it again and have it tie in the the movie. but if the next game bombs it could be the end of the franchise again. I dont think SE will go after the money again and sign an exclusive deal, everyone knew it was doomed from the day it was announced.

It is hard to wrap your head around, specially when you consider how close square and Sony are. The one thing I don't get is why they made it timed exclusivity to include pc I mean a large chunk of Microsoft ip's are going there anyway, they really just shit the bed on this one.

I love this game. Nothing has hooked me like this in ages. Apart from the story little things in the game make it so good. The way the character touches the wall instead of just walking head first into it. This is my first time playing uncharted, are they all this good?

It's done well on Steam. Around 800k so far, although eventually it'll end up with several million due to sales.

Replaying on Crushing and have absolutely no idea how to get through the "main" mummy room. I get through the circular part but the tunnel leading out is all kinds of bullshit.

Might be worth looking at a walkthrough for that part. I'm sure someone has posted a YT video.

Uncharted 2 and 3 are, this probably has better pacing but maybe a little less action then those two.

It was a bad deal for everyone involved. MS should of used the money to fund new games/studios. and SE selling a title that made its name on the playstation, to being a XO exclusive. The 3rd game was in pre-production before Rise came out but underwhelming sales could of had that scraped, or just re-worked.
The reboot sold much better and took almost a year to make a profit. the squeal was said to cost even more and then there is the Season pass DLC production which is more money put into the games dev. and i would expect that SE are not wanting to commit another $100M+ to a 3rd game until they see how it sells on the PS4. because if it also bombs it might be dead and they cancel the game. if the new movie does come out next year i could see them using the game as a tie-in to keep the franchise alive.

It will also be interesting to see if Sony can resist making more Uncharted games, by having someone like Sony bend make them with new characters, or use different ones like a young Sully or Chloe and Cutter.

Not going to make enough money when it was being sold for like $7 US on some of the European stores.

just a really great game, attention to detail is brilliant, graphics and story and gameplay all stunning, characters and dialogue great as well, one of those rare games where at the conclusion you are left really satisfied but also empty at the fact that the characters and game have almost become a part of you and i guess sad that its ended. not since the Last of us and the Witcher 3 have i felt so vicarious by the characters and story - 9.5/10

Kept getting a random cord unplugged image pop up in multiplayer tonight. At first I thought it was someone's stupid power up that I'd perhaps stepped on that just makes you freeze for a sec, then continue to play but it happened right off the bat next game so I searched for answers. Quite a few threads on Naughty Dog forum about it from people with even better connections than I have. Here's someone's video of exactly what happens. So annoying.

Got through it eventually. Pretty bloody hard, forces you to be damn near perfect with your positioning/timing.

I have to say, as somebody who has put the platinum of every Uncharted game in history in the "cbf" basket, I'm really enjoying the cleanup on this one. Perhaps because I loved the game much, much more than any other in the series, but ND also deserve a lot of credit for the trophy list in this one.

Finally finished. Visually and technically flawless. Game itself I was pretty meh about, none of these games are my sort of thing. At least it's out of the way and done with and can go back to other stuff now.

Glad I'm not the only one, Jeff Gerstmann from Giantbomb said similar on the bombcast last week. I still enjoy the games, but the actual meat and potatoes gameplay of the Uncharted series isn't the most gripping or enjoyable stuff. The over the top scenarios and visuals are what really makes it.

The shooting and climbing is fine, but nothing exceptional and at times monotonous. I'm finding the new Doom a nice counterbalance which is hitting all the old traditional video game itches, while Uncharted hits the cinematic grandeur side of things.
