For a while there I thought we may be rue-ing our numerous missed chances in the first half as the sharp shooting of Werribee kept them in it up until the last 10 minutes.

Our burst in the 2nd term should've killed the contest, but those 2 x 25m penalties and the second late goal to the Bees kept them right in it.

The third term was a corker, but in the end Werribee could only have 20 players sign their team sheet (and 1 was left on the bench until the last term anyhow) and we managed to use our 24 to effect in the final term.

Shame Floppa rolled his ankle, but I daresay with the week off and his youthful powers of recovery, he'd be a better than 50% chance of playing. I reckon Ninja won't bring someone in for him unless he clearly can't run or make any meaningful contribution.

Very good signs for the future here. I agree with an earlier post that Cussen, Johnson, Simcoe and McCarthy could play seniors right now, and Toby Hudson-Bevige is an absolute jet. He's just the sort of kid who has the balance and poise to smash it if/when the senior side gets into Premier B and then Premier. Also like the games of the ruckman Sandy (great size, mobility and confidence) Jono and Cheyne in defence. All have the skills and size to mix it in senior company next year and beyond.

With a week off, Carey or a patched up Werribee will be hard pressed to stop us taking the silverware now.

Well done boys, a great effort thus far.

Cheers

Bad news Scribe, Will's ankle is broken (tibia I think) and needs an opperation. Won't be playing the rest of the finals and could be a long recovery.

Well it's a case of same place, same time, same team, different day!

The U19s will be taking on Werribee this Saturday, 11 Sept, starting at 9.15am at St Bernard's College.

It appears the game has been moved from the original Sunday at 2pm because Werribee senior team are also in the grand final so the VAFA have scheduled them at the same ground on the same day.

Fitzroy U19s beat Werribee U19s by 15 points in the Grand Final today (not sure of the exact scores). Great effort by all the boys, with Michael Cussen (#7) best on ground.
