15 odd years ago, shotz would do a happy hour on friday and saturday nights where you could get $1 tap beers.

what is today's equivalent of this? because it was very very good.

That's nothing.

25 years ago The Planet had a Wednesday night happy hour that was 50c beer.

You would go back again and again and fill a whole table with beers for $20.

I mety first wife there. I can't believe it didn't work out!

I remember back in the day we'd have a run we'd do on a Friday or Saturday night. Start at Cartoons, then to Dreamers and end up at The Royal. 50c and $1 beers the whole way.

2010 Southern Cross hotel schnitty and schooner for 5 bucks.

Which slowly turned in to schnitty for 3 bucks and a 2 buck beer. Then 5 bucks for schnitty and 2 buck beer. Then 5 bucks for schnitty no longer including chips or salad, that cost extra. Then the beer went up to 3 bucks. Before you know it you were paying ten bucks a pop.

All this walking down memory lane of speed drinking makes me concerned for all our livers and memories from the heady late 80s. It was so irrresponsible and dangerous. I can't imagine what the poor bar staff felt like with people getting instantly wasted on cheap drinks.

The Playroom or The Pit as it was know on the Gold Coast was ****ing amazing. $1 spirits from 7-12 on Thursday nights.

Everyone would blow up when they doubled in price at midnight.

I was watching the darts recently and it has given me an earworm of Mr Brightside. But as it goes through my head it morphs into Special K by Placebo. Did the killers steal significant parts of that song - the melody or whatever?

I did learn that the hard way after a night on the B52s in the city. The revisiting of B52s was the most revolting sight and those jeans went in the bin.
