After watching Fremantle play on the weekend, Zac Clarke is who we should chase, and should be a realistic option of getting seeing as Sandi and Griffen are ahead of him.

Really athletic, modern day ruckman, finshed with 25ish hitouts against an in form St Kilda and McEvoy, looks the goods and is my number 1 hope come trade week.

Offering him our number 1 ruck spot should surely be too good for him to refuse, he also looks good up forward. I've said this about Mitch Clark, but a Zac Clarke and Vickery ruck combo, splitting in 70/30, could be very very damaging...

I have a feeling on the back of the last few games, Zac may have gone ahead of Griffen.

Me too!

Not sure what will be going through Zac's mind. Big question will be how long Sandi can keep going for, because he's the one who will keep the others out of the team in the short term.

General vibe I get is that it will be incredibly difficult to pry Zac off Freo. Very much contracted, and very much required.

Throw the kitchen sink at this potential superstar. Took an absolute screamer and hamdpassed on his way down. True athlete that already is reaching potential. Too good for WAFL. Get him..

I've thrown my thoughts around plenty on Zac Clarke (in short, want him, but contracted, and clearly Freo will want to retain him, making it near impossible to get him).

Considering he is contracted for another 2 years, does anyone think it's even worth talking about? My understanding of the trade system is that we would basically need to pay Freo something so attractive, they decide the offer from us is clearly worth more to them than Clarke currently is.

As an outsider looking in, if I were Freo, that would have to include our first round pick. And probably a best 22 player. Is he worth that to us, because Freo are clearly in a strong position to play hard ball, and flat out say "no" if they are seeing the same potential we all are. On top of all that, we need to convince Clarke that he wants out.

Re: Ruck Trade at seasons end?

For me:
Trengrove= Key Backman 197cm not quite a ruckman, but i mean rance is 193cm Thursfield 192cm McGuane 192cm.. That isn't a enough height down there.. Trengrove has been linked to richmond and could be a great pick up
Trent West/ Dawson Simpson from Geelong= Could be cheap pick ups and from what I have seen show more than the two we have at the minute.. We could trade a second tier player and a draft pick for one of them
Bellchambers is to valuable for Essendon with Hille getting on, they will do a fair bit to keep him- if we could get him it would be awesome
Clarke from femantle is showing he is more than simply a ruckman and does freaky things like natinuai, i don't think Freo will let go of him without a fight..Tigers are simply going to have to go hard at a player and spend a bit of money and risk something for it.. We need key position players that can actually play

Tahlia from Adelaide look's the goods. Any chance of getting him for a second rounder + Edwards?

No chance in hell, especially now they've lost Davis.

Talia top 12 pick in the 09 draft, going to Richmond for pick 40 odd and a player who will delisted at seasons end? Get real.

Some people are delusional.

After losing Bock and Davis, good luck getting him for anything less than Deledio :thumbsu:

That is a statement made by a real Thick head if you really believe that it will take delidio to move Talia  NFI

Mark Blake is on the move might be a good fit the one thing he can do well is tap the ball to his midfielders something the Tigers current rucks seem to have trouble doing

Are u expecting a trade or can we get him free? No way would I expect us to trade for him.

Yeah, I reckon take him for free... or a token trade, i.e. swap our 6th rounder for their 6th rounder etc.

The problem with Blake is that one of the big problems we have is what we get out of our rucks around the ground. It's embarrassing to watch guys like Cox, Goldy, Leuenberger, Mumford, (Zac Smith!) etc racking up possessions, looking dangerous forward, laying tackles, pressuring... meanwhile poor old Gus can hardly get to the contests, let alone have an impact. While he is quite a good tap ruckman, the reason Blake's not getting a look in at the Cats is because the game has gone beyond that. A lot more is expected from an AFL ruck these days, and Blake, nor Graham, nor Browne seem to be able to offer that.

I wouldn't even take him for free. It's a step sideways, not something that will help us long term. Gus is more useful around the ground and I've got no doubt that Blake was made to look a whole lot better by working with one of the best midfields in recent history.
