Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Ruck Trade Targets

1. Stef Martin - out of contract - Mobile, can play forward or back. Could improve his centre square work - but a significant upgrade on our current rucks. Would be on low $$ as he came to the Dees as a rookie from the VAFA. We would also have trade leverage as he is out of contract. Would could offer our 2nd rounder and Connors and threaten the Dees to take him in the PSD if they don't take it.

2. Mitch Clark - has failed to recapture his almost All-Australian form of 2009. With the emergence of Leuenberger and the number of injuries he has suffered he has spent more time up forward than in the ruck in 2010 and 2011. Will cost $$$ and demand a 1st rounder plus a player. Could go to GWS but is also rumoured to be a target for Freo. If he does go to the Dockers we could potentially involve ourselves in a three-way deal that would see us snare Zac Clarke.

3. Zac Clarke - excellent prospect but is contracted until 2013. Freo won't trade him unless we offer a quality player and our 1st rounder in return. Can't see it happening

4. Shaun Hampson - Also out of contract so we would have leverage at the trade table. Can take a grab but his kicking is suspect. Injury prone as well. Our 2nd round pick at best or a straight swap for McGuane as the Blues need a defender.

5. Hamish McIntosh - At 28 - would only have 3-4 years left in him. As he is contracted I can see North asking a high price during Trade Week. Due to his age I'd offer a 2nd rounder at best. Again McGuane could be used as trade bait if the Roos lose Scott Thompson.

6. Ivan Maric - Would be the last resort. Worth nothing more than a 4th rounder. Not myuch better than Browne or Graham

Mitch Morton is finished at Richmond. Throw him in with pick 14 for Zac and the third-rounder Freo will have no use for.

if he demands a trade he can become quite a bit cheaper and then we can offer some spuds with a 1st or 2nd rounder and away we go.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

With the emergence of Batchelor, Connors will be surplus. Batchelor plays the same role but doesn't try anything flashy. I can see the reasons behind trading our pick 14 but I'm really sure we'll keep it. Very rare for a club to trade it's first round.

A brother from Aotearoa?

Gumbleton? Others have gone past him. I think I'd pass and the dons would probably want way too much anyway

Simon Hogan? Like this bloke

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Sounds like we will be very active in trade week. Wouldn't be surprised if Jackson/Morton or someone like that are traded off.

Yep, wouldn't be surprised if we see 3-4 acquisitions during trade week and look to ship off just as many. With such a shallow draft , I'm sure we'll even look to trade some of our spuds for someone else's

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Don't suppose there's anyway that Adams from North is gettable? I really liked he look of him on Sunday, I think he would compliment our other midfielders brilliantly. Maybe North would look at someone with outside skills like Connors?

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Have had a look at all the clubs list for fringe players/players that might be looking for a new opportunity (ala Houli and Grigg last year) and heres the list:

Brad Dick (Col)
John McCarthy (Col)
Tyson Goldsack (Col)
Shannon Byrnes (Gee)
Dawson Simpson or Trent West (Gee)
Mark Lock (GCS)
Xavier Ellis (Haw)
Koby Stevens (WCE)
Jack Gunston (ADE)
Chris Knights (ADE)

Wouldnt be giving up anything to valuable, but some of these players could be of value for depth, especially if some are out contract and we get them for free via PSD.

I reckon they rate him (Adams that is). I do.

I thought maybe they rate Ziebel, Swallow, Greenwood and Cunnington higher who are all similar players. I'm sure I've heard Scott say they need guys with outside class, so maybe a Morton or Connors might be attractive. Maybe thats a stretch..

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

We should definitely have a look at Marc Lock.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Chris Knights only recently signed a contract extension @ 2010.

Adelaide would want far too much in exchange for him.

Reading some thoughts, there could be some Boomtown Rats?:D

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Stevens just finished his second year. We overlooked him for kicking reasons. He would want to have improved in that area, which is probably unlikely

Beat me to it UTG. He has also been fairly injury prone. He was injured again recently in the WAFL. As much as i like the kid, i reckon if he was offered, i'd probably pass.
