Points are a guide only, i agree, but that proposed deal was terrible.

It's not a loss if you move up the draft order and select the player you target.

5 & Papley suits me just fine.
i like the amount of campaigner he brings.

Paps, Dev, Redman - very nice.

Good thing about this trade is if you can get Papley on board, he then cancels out Fantasia leaving, and you can choose a young talent with pick 5.

Isn't the concern with Jenkins the amount we will have to pay him?

I didn't think it was ever about the picks to exchange.
Bloke has said he's willing to take a massive pay cut. Still contracted to crows but they dont want him and he doesn't want to be there. He can expect to be paid 300k a year for 2 years at best for a move.

They have mids but not many like Bonar who is tall and athletic. If we could get him for a pick in the 20s I’d do it in a heartbeat
You realise that with Conoglio, ward and Whitfield out, they chose to play Tomlinson ahead of him....

He is worth a pick in the 30's

I still can't believe we haven't thrown our hat into the ring for Josh Bruce. The sticking point for us would probably be the 4 years which would take him to 31 years of age. Something we tend not to do.
I'm not that keen on Josh Bruce. I feel like he goes missing, although that could have been Saints mids not finding him. He probably covers more ground than Jenkins though.

Re Bonar - I thought we were sick of our club's propensity of trying to convert 190cm forwards with athletic ability into midfielders?

He was a forward/hybrid at junior level and before someone says 'He dominated in the NEAFL as a midfielder', Langford and Laverde look like Pendlebury and Fyfe at VFL level, and we know how they go once they make the step up.

Yeah GWS won't hold him when they know he won't get much of an opportunity there. If he requests a trade to us, then a second rounder will do it.

Difference is that Bonar was an excellent stoppage player as a junior. Always had midfield ability.
Langford and Laverde mostly played forward (and I think HB for Laverde). Injuries took away a career in the midfield for Laverde as he had some traits. Langford is just not a midfielder.

Also, Bonar is developed at GWS, who know what they're doing.

Josh Jenkins
People forget
2014-2018 kicked at least 40 goals a year.
If he slimmed down a bit got a good pre-season more mobile hell yes dirt cheap.
He has no defensive game when the ball is contested or turns over. Caracella and Rutten should sort that.
I see him as a temporary stop-gap only; we should still draft/recruit a young key forward.
I noticed Josh Battle is being played as a defender. I wonder if movable now Saints have Howard? Is he any good?
Or maybe Marshall as part of a deal for Fantasia?

Completely different types of players, Taranto and Hopper are the players keeping Bonar out

Someone needs to get in Joe's ear and tell him Sydney won't fix his ills, he needs to get down to the magic sands of Warnambool and get Lindsay Smith to do his pre season

Gettn jiggy with it
He’s overseas currently trying to distance himself from the club , all communications are through his manager ...
