I'm just glad we got a pick in the 20s for him. Oh wait.

It's time to up your game TG! Don't waste your time in this irrelevant thread. Create a new one on a topic that we can all get our teeth into, you owe it to your fans man.

My "plan" would of been to not get absolutely robbed in most of our trades, especially when they're involving promising youngsters (Witts/Williams) or Ex-AA KPP players.

Getting some picks in the 35-50 range would be very reasonable for some of them, instead we get 105.
No-one was prepared to give better than 105 for him. How do you get more when no-one would pay?

The only other option was to keep him and we didn't want him.

It's a very simple concept to grasp I would have thought?

There's a difference between being disappointed what you get offered when having to sell, and having stuffed up the selling process.

The real issue was whether we HAD to sell or not. It's always easy to take the easy option and try to keep muddling through with what you had, but sometimes you're better taking what you can get and moving on. And in some cases, the players themselves wanted to go because they weren't going to be in our best 22.

I think he's lost it Jmac. Stardom has gone to his head. Lazy complacency has set in and the passion and creativity has gone. He's just milking the cow now ala the Rolling Stones for the last 40 years.

He's the Keith Richards of BF...

How on earth do you know no one was prepared to give better than pick 105?

If you don't negotiate very well of course teams will act like they won't pay much...

That is because we chose to trade him when his value was at an all time perceived low and at the same time we also made it abundantly clear that we just wanted him gone and would take whatever was offered. This is just DUMB trade tactics and list management. Sell high, buy low...This is also a simple concept; one which North obviously get. Our trade team couldn't sell a beer at a beer festival.

So you think we didn't shop him around?

If someone offered better than 105 we would have taken it. Simple logic.

These things don't just suddenly happen there would have been discussions about him with other clubs for weeks but obviously nobody was very interested. We on the board knew he was on the outs for weeks leading up to trade week.

I don't think they offered him in a fire sale until the last day or 2 after no-one showed any interest. They then helped him out the door.

After we didn't want him at the club and no one showed any interest in paying anything for him that was it. The market speaks.

Marley has a very poor reputation as a human being unfortunately and other clubs know it.

The only option was to keep him and we didn't want to.

He held no market value.

The industry know his of field behavior so it's no surprise no one was interested. It also supports the clubs decision to sack him.
Apart from his assault conviction; do you have any confirmed and specific examples to back up your assertions about his character and offield behaviour?

I don't think anyone here will be able to come up with any eye witnessed accounts of his behaviour.

I've heard fairly reliably that he copped a strike early this pre-season and had the compulsory month off. There is no compulsory naming and shaming for the first strike under the new policy so you aren't going to get any official record/confirmation of it.

All we can say (without any doubt) is that his reputation is not good. Any player manager will tell you that.

The fact that he was let go for pick 105 says all one needs to know really

No Club other than North were interested and it appears North's offer of 105 relates pretty well to their level of interest

So if he was shown the door for alleged off-field issues, probably related to illicit substances, then why were we so keen to keep Keeffe and Thomas? It seems a bit hypocritical.
