It really is such an interesting and difficult topic to debate. I don't get angry with the argument for either side. A fair bit of nuance around the issue. Ethically I don't know what the right way to go with it is.

A transgender AFL player (MtF) posted on the main AFL board a few years back, saying that even she thinks the current restrictions are too lenient ie that MtF athletes should wait longer before being allowed to compete in women's sport, with more hormone treatments to 'handicap' them further etc.

It really is a balance between the right of people to participate in sport, and the inherent advantage of going through puberty as a male.

My views are towards the former but I don't begrudge those holding the opposite view, as long as they don't express it in a hateful, sexist or bigoted manner.

Hubbard is 43. Apparently the oldest weightlifter to qualify fo the olympics. Shouldnt be winning medals at that age in a sport than requires peak physical capabilities. If Hubbard manages a medal then it will only reinforce claims of unfairness.

In came the big server, who lobbed up a dolly. A bit like in D2 when Russ the knuckle puck guy came in, tried his move, and Bombay asked him whether that was it.

Anyway sensational match, volleyball again delivering the goods. What a sport!

Is it a popular consensus around here that dressage would be a sport we'd drop if we were in charge of the Olympics?

Because count me in.

Yep. Don’t mind the show jumping and the cross country but boy dressage is boring

My biggest issue with equestrian is that it's a sport that is very financially restrictive. How many nations out of the 200 odd can afford to compete in a sport like it? I guess the same could be said for sailing.

Can anyone tell me the qualification criteria for 3x3 basketball?

The standard is so sh*t. You'd think we could get the 15-18th best Aussie players in and dominate this.
Seems to be no set rules. Like you can basically tackle

With a quick look at the medal tables, of all the nations to have won a medal in equestrian, you can really only say Mexico is a non first world country (16th) and even then there is massive wealth inequality there, same with Saudi Arabia in 30th.

In sailing, you at least get representation from China, Bahamas, Cuba and Cyprus, but it's not much better.
