Part 6 is over there:

Having a few nights at home on my Pat Malone with the fam up at the beach, gee what a shame I had to come back for work this week...
I would think you'd be lonely saying "back in ten" to an empty house.

I love an empty house.
I went camping by myself two nights a couple months back. Was bliss
Sounds perfect. I rarely get time to myself anymore. If I get a few days off I'll often go bikepacking for 1-2 nights. We're damn lucky in Australia with so many great trails and camping spots.

I literally went a 45 min drive away, just south of byron at broken head/suffolk park, felt like hours away.

I had a throw pop-up tent, sleeping bag, and the local street has a pub, bakery, pizza shop and thai restaurant, plus a small IGA. i didnt even bother packing cooking equip, was only two nights so ate bakery food and coffee breakfast, pizza/thai on each night, fruit from IGA for lunch. spent my days walking and swimming on beach, in the national parks walks, found hidden little bays and beaches, was so relaxing and not a care in the world. hardly any phone coverage too which was bliss
im going to repeat at least twice a year by myself in that general area as i can get home within an hour easily but yeh, felt like i was so far away

Brilliant.

I have a hiking tent and a bunch of lightweight cooking gear so getting away is easy.
Also have a large canvas tent and camping futon so I often take my daughter to different camping spots too. You don't have to travel too far outside of major cities for good camping spots (and wildlife spotting) in Australia.

oh and i have historically hate camping. always have, never liked it
but i think what i hate is setting up a complex tent, and having to cook in camp kitchen and / or portable bbq.

i eliminated both those things, and i loved it

Got a wedding tonight, wife has taken the kids to the in laws and won't be back until tomorrow. Looking forward to getting a good night sleep when I get home and not have to worry about dealing with two children with a hangover

Went a bit shoe crazy this month

4 new pairs

But I am stylish once again
I tried on some RM Williams boots the other day, geez they were comfortable but the $600 price tag was not justifiable, also pulled a calf muscle trying to get them on and off.

Boys soccer club doing team bonding at MLS game next week. They contacted the club and the Whitecaps invited them out on field to hold up National flags for the teams. He’ll love that!
They were Bruce Grobbelaar's first club outside of Africa.

Paid $300 for metallic gold Nike basketball shoes almost 10 years ago! Very comfy but rarely worn out in public (have had people try to steal them off me!).

Mileage varies but $120-$250 is pretty much what I spend on a pair.
