Brilliant. You're so clever you'll tear us apart,
Then masquerade it as art.
i love it when out of nowhere the album of the year arrives especially towards the end of said year. There has been a lot of hype about these guys but wowee this album is fantastic, just gets better and better. Bummed i didnt get tickets though. Will have to get a copy on vinyl for my collection for sure.
I just bought this album on Sunday, and the only word to describe it is brilliant
Pretty disappointed they're not coming to Adelaide, and that it's probably too late to get tickets for Melbourne or any other show.
Just checked ticket availability for the Brisbane show and it seems there are still tickets left.
Edit. Sorry, just realised you are in Townsville and not Brisbane.
Elephants is a HUUUUGE disappointment for me. Homme has wrecked it with his insistance to change tempo too quickly into the song and too often. The other thing that wrecks it is the end of the riff - it doesn't sound right.I am struggling to come to terms with just how good Elephants is. The Incident is the best song of the year, but goddamn Elephants is a close second.
That's another reason why this song disappoints.
Killer riff (almost) but it doesn't come back every chorus like I think it should. I don't know why Homme inists on doing this shit to some of his songs (the tempo thing in his intros). It just doesn't work.
He should have used a standard pop formula with this song. Would have ended up sounding in the same general area as Franz Ferdinand's Take me Out but with a chunky riff that sounds ever so slightly like AC/DCs Riff Raff (but more polished).
There's a killer riff at the beginning, I just think it's composed wrong. It doesn't need the beginning or the end tbh. Especially the end bit cause it sounds forced. From ~1:00 to ~6:30 it's a solid, complete song.

irony much?I think you should all stop complaining,
So what is it about jumbled chop change tempos that you like?I think it's an awesome song with an awesome intro.
Because it's a killer riff that has been wrecked. You can't sit there and soak it in and enjoy it. The tempo is all over the place and it's a pain in the arse to listen to. This is something Homme does regulalry and he hasn't worked out yet that IT DOESN'T F***ING WORK!Why must it be any different?
When I first heard the Youtube promo it reminded me of the Mission Impossible Theme. But when you listen to the whole song it resembles nothing like it.The riff in Scumbag Blues reminds me a lot of that.
I've seen a fair bit of their stuff on Youtube and they don't look that good live to me. That's not to say Grohl doesn't shred, but these guys don't look that tight live.Im going purely to see Dave Grohl on drums. Anyone need any convincing check out Nirvana live at reading festival dvd. He is an animal.
Its solid, but I don't find it as amazing as everyone on here is saying it is.Hmm, I must be the only person on the planet thus far who has listened to this album in it's entirity, and wasn't that impressed.
