Many years ago I briefly wired new houses.

Couldn't understand why every job there was always a big pile of beer bottles in a corner somewhere.

Turned out the 2 guys doing the chasing were just getting pissed every day as they worked.

Its amazing the amount of functional alcoholics that are out there.

They used to f*** up though, cutting out stuff in the wrong rooms. Like a switchboard next door in a bathroom lol.

I had to complain to the boss in the end because it was costing me too much of my time fixing their mistakes, didn't dob them in for drinking though.

Dare i say it, they werent bright sparks were they?

They were already very dumb before the drinking, even after 10 beers you should still be able to read a plan for a 4 x 2.

Enough about the weather.

Far more exciting things to talk about like us getting an NRL team again in the Perth Bears.

Hopefully they go better than the Western Reds, I went to their first game at the WACA 30 years ago and it was hot back then too.

I'm not sure how they will go. Giving us a Sydney reject team (thanks The West for that) rather than a team with a WA identity might not give them the outcome they are looking for. You would think that everyone over here interested in the sport already support a team and they need to be given a reason to switch. They haven't given us one. I'm not switching and I have not spoken to or heard of anyone that is going to switch to the Bears.

It is not a standalone WA NRL team like the Western Reds but the Bears will have the support of North Sydney Bears supporters.

One of the problems the Western Reds had was having no support in Sydney and a lot of their supporters will travel over here too.

They will also be playing at a proper rectangle rugby stadium rather than the WACA which will help too.

Like most fair weather Perth residents, I'll have an interest with the Bears to start with that will probably die by midway through season 2 because you know, it's rugby league.

Though with the Eagles being historically shit and Freo falling short of their potential it's not a bad time for a new toy to arrive in town.

We're simply not a throwball town. We didn't even want our own club so we're not likely to adopt someone else's. Will fail. Just a matter of how long.
