You do wonder how long the Netflix bubble lasts for F1. My sister who's part of that crowd, went from forking out to go to the Melbourne GP last year to complaining about how all the races are over after the first lap, hmm really.

I like the sport more for the tech and innovations but it's behind MotoGP, NASCAR, Supercars, Indycar in terms of actual racing quality.

Depends why you watch it. If you only care about the action at the front then yeah, it is over as soon as Max has the lead. But, there is still plenty of great racing in the unpredictable midfield.

Derbies aren't that big a thing anymore. There isn't the genuine hate filled anger there used to be.
There's a universe out there where both teams met in the 2015 GF (or the 2006 GF), there would be genuine hatred for generations had that been the case, regardless of the winner. In this universe the worst of it is eagles supporters being pissy Frederick did a flip after kicking a goal.

I genuinely think we would have won the GF in 2006 if we made it. 2015 on the other hand, we were so battered and injured that no matter how bad you were against Hawthorn I fully believe you would have beaten us.

What's everyone's plan for the upcoming solar eclipse? Anyone heading up to Exmouth?
Yep. Me and 50,000 of my closest friends. We'll be keenly watching a piece of paper with a whole cut in it for about 15 seconds.

Then we'll regret our life decisions.
Fun times.

I took a look at accomodation when I first became aware last year and it was ridiculous - many places were already sold out

They were expecting a massive influx of people
We're paying near on a grand for 9 days at the caravan park, booked April last year. There's stories of houses being rented for tens of thousands of dollars. A good money spinner for the locals. We're going as if we're bush camping for the 10 days, carrying everything with us.

What date is the eclipse?

Should be right, meant to cross the coast in a week.
Just got watch out for floods, rivers up everywhere already.

Yeah. We spend a bit of time up north. A few years ago we were coming back from north of Carnarvon post flooding. Nothing deep fortunately but a lot of water still.

Will be at Quobba with a group of people, some of them will then make the trek to Exmouth. Missus and myself will be staying put.

I've been there in April before and it was relatively busy but can't imagine putting up with 50,000 people there.

The northern eye wall of Ilsa is raking over Bedout Island at the moment. Ilsa should make landfall around midnight between De Grey and Pardoo Roadhouse.

946.5 hpa as the air pressure is insanely low, too.
Hope those that are in the path are bunkered down and well stocked with supplies.
