we are in a few local Westie groups :)
I on a westy page on FB..but some of the people on there kinda shit me..I don't post on there.
I asked if Rufus brother who lives in my town wants a play date..didn't here from them.
He doesn't get overly excited seeing another westy...loves jack Russells tho.
Not scared of big doggies either.

My Bluey was very wary of other blueys but worse were staffies. He was always the one who got attacked 😢

Imo your can't put them in a bubble if attacked ETC.
I guess some poeple think differently to me.
My little boy was mildly attacked a few times I kept taking him out with my other dogs.
Kept a eye on him he recovered really well.

I don't like poeple picking up their dogs.
I don't think they helps the dog long term.

Hope for bluey is all 👍 good.

Unfortunately when a big dog attacks a little one, it's dangerous and must be picked up. Our Bluey was attacked by another heeler and suffered cuts to his face that need vet care. $$$ and the owner just jogged off, calling the dog. Mine on lead, hers not.

Sadly my boy is no longer with us, lived to age 16 .

Sad.
But 16 is pretty good imo.
We wish they live longer.

Not everyone is lucky enough to spend 16 years with their fur mates .

My house got broken into a couple of weeks ago. Misi is still very unsettled.

My place was broken into while I was on Christmas holiday in Queensland back in 1991. Luckily my cat was in a cattery at the time.

The bastards took my new pair of Nike's and my high school class ring, among other things.

My older Westie has had bad encounters with Frenchies, a boxer and a chocolate lab. The rogue lab had attacked a few other dogs in our area, and the family eventually left. He's ok with other labs, but terrified of other Frenchies and boxers. I try to explain this to owners of these breeds, as I hold my dogs back, but they insist their dogs "are absolute sweeties" and still try to approach. I used to go on long walks with Fyfe (will be 4 in August) but ended up getting Mundy (2 in October) so he had his own playmate at home and stopped trying to seek out other dogs.

Unfortunately, the younger dog is super protective, anxious and feisty. He's a little bit bigger and is often the one to lash our randomly towards other dogs. He's been desexed and just as socialised. 99% of the time he loves other dogs and is very social, but I'm not keen to risk it. I tried to walk the two of them on my own yesterday, but they weigh a combined 21kg and I'm not very big. They were dragging me up the street towards the park. I would persevere, but m so scared that a larger dog will come at us and I wont be able to save them.

Dogs and sence your feelings.
When Rufus was pinned down and bitten from a resuce at the dog park.
I pulled the other dog off.
The owners asked what happened.
Then they asked why ain't you freaking out and being calm about it.

I said they can sense my feelings i don't like it's good for them.

I don't like the dog park that much.
Too many people think they run the place.
Like to give out advice.

Classic things like stop your dog humping my dog.angry face.
Umm ok but your dog and 2 other dogs been bumping my other dog for 10 mins and Noone done anything.

We go to off lead beaches during the warm months .

We go to the off lead beaches on most Sundays, especially in Winter (if it's not raining too much). In summer we visit the south west beaches.

At the beach, dogs don't spend that much time with each other. They say a quick "hello" and are on their way. Because Westies are terriers they know they can't own the whole beach. Things start off well at the dog park until a hierarchy begins and the terriers want to let the others know who's in charge.

do yours swim? Mundy is like a labrador! we live near the river and he jumps in evenon a cold day. Fyfe just glares at him with a "wtf are you doing?!?" He only goes in if it's calm, a warm day, and there's a female dog involved lol
