Just finished listening to the Hottest 100 of 2004 on Double J. Man music was better back then.

My wife is from rural ireland (about 1.5 hours South of Dublin when there's no traffic, 2 and a bit if there's traffic) and she wants to move down there. I'm from Adelaide (yes I know what you'll all say about a small country town), grew up in the burbs and I prefer that over country living. Everything is too sparse for me, have to jump in a car everytime you want to go somewhere. Don't get me wrong I hate the traffic and noise of traffic where we live but still prefer that.
I don't think this is necessarily true, there's still a shitload of good music around, especially released in the last year as well. What's popular has changed, massively, and the 2004 countdown is just what we grew up with.Just finished listening to the Hottest 100 of 2004 on Double J. Man music was better back then.
So your moving hey haha.

I think the variety and volume of good music has drastically reduced. That countdown batted very deep. And I say that where quite a few of the songs I'd never heard before but enjoyed a lot.I don't think this is necessarily true, there's still a shitload of good music around, especially released in the last year as well. Again, I think this is just how popular music has changed and I'd probably say the variety you see in hottest 100s recently is probably higher. The 2004 countdown was good but it was very rock dominated (which I know to be in line with your taste) whereas recent countdowns (though becoming more pop dominated) see a bigger mix of genres outside rock and pop.I think the variety and volume of good music has drastically reduced. Most of the advantages of city life you can find just as easily in the countryside now. However, you can't find the advantages of country life in the city unless you have great wealth. Bit of a generalisation but mostly true.Certainly am, kind of crazy how many City people have moved this way(and other regional towns) since covid. Much better lifestyle.
Yeah I tend to listen to a lot of older music, barely listen to anything new, just doesn’t do it for me.
Except I pointed out I heard songs I hadn't heard before and enjoyed them more than newer stuff. Including dance tracks that I don't typically enjoy.People like the music they grew up with and keep listening to it. Some people also like the music their parents listen to because it was on when they were growing up.
I struggle to enjoy new music but assume that is part of the ageing process. I do think new stuff is over produced though.
Yeah this is fair tooYeah I dunno, I think there was a heap of good music released this year and if Double J did a 100 it'd be pretty solid. Needs to become a thing
Find theres a lot of sameness about JJJ nowadays and they are more focused on their target market which isn't obviously me.
I am one of those weirdos that can say I have lisened to about 2-3 songs released in the last 10 years.
