Nahhhh… soccer is fine.Jeepers - soccers goin' bad. Can't afford a singer at the Matildas International to sing the national anthem. Oh dear.
It's a financial mess and management is poor. Talked to an insider recently and they are very disenchanted with the way soccer is run at the higher levels. The Paramount deal is a great example. An absolute disaster for Aleague.Nahhhh… soccer is fine.
at some stage, you all need to seperate the two. Its non comparative. Stop this. Soccer is fine. Womens soccer, basketball, footy etc are elite comps in their infancy. Still a long way to go to be self sufficient and create a baseline of neutral viewership. They dont have a heap of revenue, its propped up. nTTAWWT
Attendance was up by 8% for A League in the last season. Whether the network deal was a fail or not, its the most participatory sport by juniors in the country. The issue is, we dont have the star power or the talent to compete on the global stage. It's a financial mess and management is poor. It's an international friendly being show around the world. Have some pride. Interesting re kids participation numbers. Some reports say soccer, some say basketball, some say swimming. I think soccer would be right.Attendance was up by 8% for A League in the last season. Whether the network deal was a fail or not, its the most participatory sport by juniors in the country. Im an ol NSL bloke. I preferred it the way it was 30 years ago. The competition had soul. It doesn’t have that any longer.
And to be fair, if its not a Womens world cup, no one in this country watches it. Why waste coin on it?
Might be shown around the world but **** all will tune into it. I wonder if other countries hosting a friendly would have live Nat Anthems? .. would doubt it.It's an international friendly being show around the world. Have some pride. Watching that 200 brought a tear to my eye. There’s something really special watching a kid do that. Amazing. He would have won the Gold medal at Sydney with that time.
And been top 4 at every olympics until 2012, medaling or finishing first in many of them. He wouldn't have finished last in a single Olympic final.
Treated well by the boys club.Breaking the late great Peter Norman’s record which has stood since 1968.
Yeah but who cares. Tommie Smith and John Carlos (the two other athletes in that photo) traveled to Australia to carry his coffin and speak at his funeral.Treated well by the boys club.
In fairness the APL had a market of one when they did the Paramount deal. It's a financial mess and management is poor. that’s football Australia’s mantra isn’t it?opportunity that was pissed up against a wall.
Yes, but in fairness to them this was the breakaway group of A-League club owners who thought they knew better.that’s football Australia’s mantra isn’t it?
I think FIFA only wants recordings played because they meet the rules that anthems can't exceed 90 seconds length.Jeepers - soccers goin' bad. Can't afford a singer at the Matildas International to sing the national anthem. Oh dear.
