Oh wow - I just saw this on Jay's brick blog, so I guess it's a new announcement?

This is quite beautiful! Very displayable, and a cute little hybrid between the art pieces and the botanicals.

I'm quite certain I'll be buying this at some point!

Yep, it's on the Lego site, available 1 March.
Neese you need to see this ;).

I'm through bag 12 now... which means I'm through bag 11, the 2nd one that I had to order PAB pieces for.

They've had me order some duplicates, including some particularly annoying ones that aren't cheap pieces (like a spare rowing oar.)

That's ok though. I'm very happy to have overcome the issues, and that I have all the missing pieces in one go, without needing a re-order or a visit to a PAB wall. It took longer than it should've - it was over 3 weeks of back and forth with Lego before I found someone who could locate a piece list - but I'm stoked.

Might put the stickers on it, prioritise a new cabinet, and find some new acrylic shelving...

Oh nice. That's a lot bigger than the Seinfeld one I have.

MY F***ING WALLET, THIS IS A MUST HAVE.

Ahem, on a related note I saw it in person last year. Incredibly privileged because getting tickets for the Van Gogh Museum is difficult and I had a few moments, by myself, to contemplate it, admire the brushstrokes, and photograph it from mere inches away.

It truly is a landmark work and I am glad I can assemble it in Lego form.

Oh nice. Much better than that fugly Mona Lisa.

Just finished that, it was indeed a bit underwhelming but considering the original itself is also quite muted in terms of colour and composition, I think Lego did they best they could.

$300 is a lot of money but it's worth it from what I can tell.

I was like a kid in a lolly shop at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.

I finished this off today during the first session of the cricket. After all the dramas I had, what a relief to have it finished and complete.

The good:
  • it looks great, I watched a couple of episodes while building it yesterday and the accuracy is incredible.
  • as someone who doesn't do many builds like this, I really enjoyed how they have all this different furniture, and they try and make them all slightly different builds. There's not a lot of repetition. Things like the curtains and all the shelving were quite new to me as well.
  • there's some proper laugh out loud storyline elements of it, which I wasn't expecting.

I'd spent most of this build thinking I was going to keep it, and regretting that I hadn't put the stickers on it, but,

The bad:
  • it doesn't really "fit" with my display, it's so different to everything else I have.
  • it's quite flimsy, which limits where I can display it
  • it's kind of exactly the wrong size in all aspects. It's too tall to put an acrylic shelf on top of, and build up. The girls apartment is set back a little further than the guys, which means if you factor in it's "display footprint", it takes up more space than it needs to. I think if I had an acrylic box, it would need to be too big to be able to build on top of.

I really wanted to build Endurance next, but I have nowhere to put it. I need to decide whether I'm selling Friends apartments, or investing in another cabinet that I don't have space for, or getting an entirely new cabinet that's a size upgrade/replacing the current one. Maybe a trip to Ikea to assess the potential damage next week...

(the Sunflowers announcement reminded me that I still have Great Wave in my wardrobe. I'll probably build that in the meantime while I'm on a hot streak, it's much easier to display from a space perspective.)

Went to Ikea today, picked out a cabinet... wouldn't fit in the bloody GoGet car. So after going into the store - I really, really despise having to go to Richmond, especially the Ikea - I have to get the bloody thing delivered anyway.

At least I had the presence of mind to take a tape measure with me, I didn't take it out to the car than have to take it back in like a pinhead.

The cabinet matches the one I already have, which is good for my OCD, and when I thought about it? It costs less than the individual price of Sunflowers, Red Bull F1, Ferrari F1 and Endurance, so it's a good investment in Lego displaying. (Although I'm not certain whether Endurance might have to go on top anyway, it might be too tall for the shelves.)

There's also an art supply store near me, and I've picked up an acrylic box for the Friends set. It's kind of the perfect shape for it, so that's good. Still, the box is a cheap one that comes apart, I've had to use some glue and sticky tape in the corners.

Productive couple of days off, cleaned up the back patio and built some Lego.

Glad I got the play scale AT-AT, the UCS would be just too big and too much work.

Bought the AT-ST to go with it and complete the set, was a fun and simple build and surprisingly sturdy, it survived my nephew who came over yesterday and decided to play with all my Lego…

Used the battle pack to fill out the seats in the AT-AT as well, would probably take 20 packs to fill the UCS set.

Next build I bought something I never wanted, the midi scale Millennium Falcon, decided I needed a falcon to display with the Cantina and that seemed the best fit size wise. But got it really, really cheap on EBay so when it comes next week it’ll be the next build.

Just hours after Myer kmarted me, the originators have also followed suit.

At least with Kmart I know to expect that any order is, at best, a 50% chance of being completed.

I struck it lucky when I click and collected the Transformers Lego Bumblebee set when I purchased it last year. Hearing all the horror stories (including one of my own when I first tried to get the Lego BTTF DeLorean from there) I was expecting it to be cancelled...... but they had it and I picked it up that night. I've noticed most stores are slowly restocking their previously sold out ranges. Shelves are starting to look full again. One thing that kinda saddened me a bit, I remember one David Jones I would stroll past used to have a pretty decent Lego area (multiple wals and shelves in the middle of those walls etc). When I last went they had a single wall and it wasn't a big wall either lol.

Also my Lego Batwing recently went flying again.... but I was lucky to react and catch it (Shane Warne would have been proud). I'll be changing the location of where it is so I no longer bump into it haha.

That's good to hear. I have to head out east tomorrow, I was going to swing by Doncaster. Turns out there are no exciting releases tomorrow though, so I guess I'm stopping by to check out the Myer/DJs/Toy World/Big W.

I'd so love for there to be some good specials and/or GWPs for 1 March, I'm really excited for it with Sunflowers and all the F1 releases. I might plan to head out to Knifepoint that day... the Toymate do owe me a 20% discount for the Friends debacle, so I could potentially buy one of those 1 March releases if they have stock, and I'd feel ok about the price.

I'm keen on the Lego F1 Ferrari but 1) little display space left at home and 2) when it's released I'll be interstate and don't fancy lugging around a Lego box in addition to a suit case :p

Unless you're really wanting a day 1 purchase on that I'd suggest holding off even just a little while. The other F1 cars were available not long after release for 1/3 off, and this one could be the same, especially with the inflated $350 asking price.

I'm keen but I'm definitely not full price keen lol. Again it's probably going to be one of those, looks great in the box, and seeing it built in a display case at a Lego should would be cool..... but will probably go mental building it myself (and that's just with the stickers jk :p).

Can dream about it for now until later on.

That Chewbacca makes me grin.
