I wonder how far away he is from featuring at VFL level? Hopefully within the next few weeks...
If he's showing genuine positive signs, then I'd prefer it sooner rather than later. Availability for senior selection is still a longggggg way off but getting him back into playing at some level will hopefully only entice him to keep progressing within the program.

I do find it funny that there are a couple other players at a bigger Vic club who are on leave yet all the attention is on Jamarra. (For what it's worth I think all three should be left alone)
couple of 🙂

Best case: He’s changed his mindset and will continue to show up. I don’t even care about a timeline as long as he’s making an effort to get the best out of himself.

Worst case: This is a Connors PR ploy to get the media/public off his back for a little while - like Bailey Smiths final sessions with us.

Every time I see new posts on this thread I'm all "Oh Jamarra! What naughty boy mischief have you got yourself mixed up with now?"

Always good to hear something positive.

When I was a schoolteacher the experienced hands said "if you've got a difficult class try to say 5 positive things for every 1 negative thing."

So well done Jamarra . You got this.

Best thing for him right now is to put his payments into a trust fund that he can’t access until he’s 30? I know this would be ethically difficult but paying someone obscene money when they have a serious addiction is also ethically questionable. The money he is now earning is life changing money, unless of course it is wasted. I reckon this is why you hire a manager in the first place. But regardless of whether the manager is doing this or not, it’s on the club to not be his enabler now.
Said it before but what the hell is his manager doing?

I'll be a little more chuffed when (and I know this sounds petty):

There are team mates in the photos.

There are team mates engaging in his social media.
It’s funny how this is a measurement of things these days. Pretty much no one but Jammarah and JJ interacted with Smith once he obviously was leaving, the captain and vice captain unfollowing him.

At least it’s an indication of how things might be going.

There’s a whole thread on the main board dedicated to rumours. Wonder if anyone on there has ever faced defamation action? Not being facetious here either, I’m genuinely curious.

Talking in general here, not just about Jmmarah, but I thought Nathan Buckleys comments about players taking this year was pretty interesting. Acknowledged the sensitivity aspect of it but questioned if players were losing 50% of their wage would they go about things differently?

I can understand a bit of time away, but getting the whole salary for what could be potentially a year of no output is just hard to get my head around. Understand money isn’t everything and it could just compound issues.
