That isn't to deny the strong Jewish connection to the region and to Jerusalem in particular but discussion of the present situation is pointless without acknowledgement that almost all of what is now Israel had an Arab population for centuries until the Nakba.

The "native population" is not inherently Arab, Jewish or anything else. Who was there first and who deserves the land very much depends on who you ask.

I suspect a not insignificant portion of people were Jewish, Christian and Islamic going back through their family history without ever really leaving the lands. Probably going back to the Canaanites.

he self identified as a “socialist” 9 years ago while only ever displaying the qualities of venture capitalists. to my eye, he’s only ever going to exist as a self serving “political refugee” per him clinging to any movement that will accept (his money).

That was in his heyday as the first billionaire of note to take climate change seriously, at a time where big businesses were almost universally dismissing the idea of doing anything to mitigate it.

It all made him something of a cult figure on the left but over time he’s been more and more mask off as a right wing nutcase on the back of issues like his daughter coming out as trans, attempts to unionise Tesla sites, covid shutdowns and so on

Regardless of what you think of Musk, the grooming gang story is just horrific.

Some of the stuff in the court transcripts just beggars belief. One girl was abused, escaped and was then abducted by a seperate group of abusers. She fled them…..and was abducted and abused by a third group.All in one night. That should be statistically impossible.

TBH….I don’t really give a **** what Musks intentions were. If it brings justice to the perps and to those who refused to protect these young girls then so be it.

I hope that this decades old issue in the UK has been sorted out after all the inquiries and recommendations.

I hope that the US and South Africa are held to the same standards by the incoming Musk government.
