It's very speculative. Eagles deciding whether to go tall or a midfielder. Reid or Hotton, or maybe Harry Armstrong or Jack Whitlock. Other clubs think we want Hotton.
If we choose a tall player then we may as well pack it in.

It would be absurd recruiting, we can’t play half of those we have already.

If that were to happen then no wonder we are a basket case.

And then blow three of those four on warner bidding against Freo, and end up drafting noone for 2 seasons like we did for TK.?!

I would prefer to trade out our first for next year to get back into this draft.

This then leaves only Hawks F1 for Rodrigues and we can offer Sydney our 26 and 27 first rounders for Warner.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if supporters were so fearful of how shit their list management team is that they traded picks away just so they couldn’t f**k up trading them next year?

Yet here we are.

Culley's problem is not limited to his speed. Where Ginbey was able to get away with not reading the play well enough in the middle because of his extreme athleticism Culley couldn't get away with it. He was given chances towards the end of the year and just couldn't get near the ball. Was the nail in the coffin.

Yep. He was far too reactive when in the middle, which combined with his lack pace was fatal.

i think I would genuinely go insane if we drafted a key forward with our first pick

It is more likely that Clarke and Pyke have a child and then trade it for Warner, than them getting that deal.

Mickey "draft guru" Ablett on SEN this evening was asked if he'd have done the pick 3 swap Eagles did and he was quite scathing in his reply. Called the trade dumb and pretty much echoed what's been said on here, that if you want to pick a Judd or a Bont, you need to be picking very early in the draft and not at pick 12.

Don't recall if it was him or one of the hosts, but they said "essentially Eagles traded pick 3 + Barrass for pick 12 + Baker". I know that's not the full trade, but the point was made in temrs of what it means for our list & trade position for 2024.

He's tested 3 times this year that I know of.
The one everyone is worried about is when he ran close to a 3.2
I also know he has tested at 2.99 and 3.00 as well.
Here's the winners on the last 25 yrs of combine 20m sprint. Don't see many players here that went onto 200 game careers. Our own Petch is there and we know what we all think there!

The repeat sprint testing is more reliable. You might only run 3.00 20m but if you can do it repeatedly with little degradation of time viola.

The average for most years is 3.00-3.05

Essentially pick 3 and Barrass for pick 12 and Baker is terribly lazy analysis if that’s what was said

It ignores completely the trade collateral we received for Barrass which was Hawthorn’s first three 2025 picks with our F4 going back

Pretty big detail to leave out

No issue with people criticising the trade but don’t misrepresent it to that extent

Supposedly:

20m: 3.025
Vertical: 75cm
Agility: 8.390
Yo-yo: 1000

Really not too bad.
Lol wait until people find out what

TT 20 meter is
Langford 20 is

TT ran it 3.2 seconds
Langford 3.4 seconds

You all can't be bashing Murphy reid when the players you have dreams over is slower as ****.

Compared to others he is more well rounded.

From what I remember Brayden George was sorta like the Taj Hotton of the 2022 draft.
Was a supposed top 10 talent before he suffered an ACL injury in his draft year.
He injured his ACL again in his 2nd year on Norf's list.
Perhaps a cautionary tale.

I think someone put Whitfields name in the same sentence as TT and everyone became attached. They really aren’t much alike and unless TT is playing midfield Id rather Lindsay.

Probably

But depends on who’s there still - say one or both of Shanahan or Armstrong

North are said to be keen to trade their F1 to get a talk so if Richmond don’t sell 10 or 11, then good chance North call us

So if Essendon are also keen, and they need a KPF, then they’d have to do better than North’s F1 and theirs or Melbourne’s don’t do that. Maybe they send a F1 plus an F2 instead of both F1 picks. Or we send back Hawthorn’s F2 or pick 26 to even it up

Clubs wanting to get back into R1 will need to pay a premium
Just my take, last week posters here were talking about West Coast trading both F2's (yours and Hawks) for Essendon's 28 and 31, then Essendon trading their F2 for your pick 26. Over all, I considered this a fair'ish trade that slightly favoured West Coast. Your

West Coast F2 for pick 28, maybe a slight overpay. Hawthorns F2 for 31 was a significant underpay in my mind. Similarly Essendon's F2 for 26 was a significant underpay.

Your proposed trade for Essendon saw you significantly underpaying for Essendon's second round picks, then Essendon significantly over paying for your first round pick.

What I would consider fair for both teams would be WC give 12 + F2x2, and get your choice of F1 from Essendon + F2 + 28 & 31.

I don't believe Essendon make finals next year, and Melbourne could very well implode, or they scrape in to the top 8 and go straight out.

I'm not so down on next years draft as a lot of others have been going on about. I believe the top end could be stronger than this years. I don't believe the first round will be as compromised as what's been made out to be. Similar to this year, we possibly see two top 10 beds and third bid at pick 12. I also believe the depth could almost be as good as this years, it's just a fair bit of the depth will be club tied as NGA's or Father Sons.

West Coast is well placed to pick up good depth kids next year, and to have a fair crack at the top WA kids with your first two picks, if those are the kids you want.

I'm very much against West Coast chasing Warner next year. West Coast really should be waiting for free agency for Warner, or at the very earliest, go after him at the 2026 trade period.

Admittedly my knowledge of this draft is limited to about 30mins total of video highlights (mainly of Murphy Reid since Cal had us taking him).

But given how even this draft supposedly is, I just can't see how he is worth the risk

I really don't understand the links to a key forward. We have Waterman, Allen, Jilliams and A Reid. That is plenty, sure take a project player later on by all means.

We need a key defender more than anything and you can find those way easier later in the draft (which we have a history of doing).

Not taking a mid would actually be insane.

You need to understand that we have idiots in charge, and I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt—they didn't realize we might have to pick a forward, given that we didn’t expect to end up with zero midfielders available at our pick

Because if we assumed that when we downgraded our pick, we’d be okay with a fwd then, oh boy

****ing mad scrambling for the best available tall due to mids all being taken is painful
