Was he actually playing half forward though? Or did he just creep up to the 50 Bailey Dale style in that clip?

Can understand him playing forward in preseason to "learn" how forwards work, in help for defensive positioning and reads. Still think he will end up playing off the back line though. Just hope we let him flourish in a position of strength and not what we did with Richards for a couple of years.
Haven't watched any clips so can't comment on that, but he has definitely started a few sessions forward and spent some time forward in Sims.
If he did play forward it'd be around the arc rather then deep allowing him to dash into the forward line or as a link man.
As you say it may only be for pre-season purposes but I have no issues with it at afl level, if it fast tracks him allowing him to play top level whilst building his frame all whilst filling an area of need.

I love Davidson and have been pushing for him for round one for a few weeks, but it seems he has gotten a lot more run on the wing in the pre-season and this is the role the MC might view him in. With our shaky wing options, he may still be better suited here, but I guess we will see.
The wings will be interesting this year that's for sure!
Williams locked in on one side whilst the other is likely a revolving door again. Harmes, Baker, Davidson, Gags, Mcniel, Kennedy x2, Arty and Poulter all capable of filling the spot.

Probably close to my team but without Buss. Based on preseason form I expect we go with a 2-tall defence. JOD & Khamis have been "ok" without being outstanding.

Sanders has been excellent so comes into the 22. Garcia also very well performed so he comes in.

Harmes is an ideal sub for me.

Not arguing and I have no idea but I was hoping, Garcia, Sanders and Artie would be in the 22 before McNeil.
Again not criticising, but looking for improvement from these guys who were essentially on the fringes in 2024.

We start the year with a level of talent that’s is great. Some good players will miss out.

Every year Bevo plays some new players straight away so I don’t expect that to change.

We lost - Smith who barely played for us and a couple of very good players who were no longer best 22.

Macrae was my favourite but left at 30 with a huge contribution to us and a chance to play best 22. Kennedy is not a better player but will play more games for us so that is a win.

In many ways he and Caleb gave us Davidson for a late pick - I am a fan of Caleb but again wasn’t being picked abs Davidson will add something we have been searching for a stick out a few times and fast 190 wing/flanker who is good in the air, runs and kicks goals. We got close with Mitch Hannan but he lack consistency. Had F. Greene and others before.

We will also see Darcy, Sanders, Friejah become stars and JOD and Buss ensure we keep strength as we transition from Jones/Lobb. Also backing West and Garcia to continue their trajectory.

Am picking JUH at this stage - I am hoping he can work his way through this tough time with our help and play - if not I would add Buku to the squad.

As someone who hasn’t seen any training sessions this preseason I have been surprised at the number of R1 teams on this thread that include Harmes. Has he been showing good form at training? Physically he looks to have the tools to make an impact but he has been with us a few seasons now and I keep waiting, waiting, waiting……………………………. Cut to the chase - I have given up.

A few seasons? Last year was his first with us?

Well I got that wrong. I actually changed the post as I wrote it as “two seasons”, but changed it to “ a few seasons” because I thought maybe this is his third with us. Time flies when you are having fun! ( but I definitely did not have fun watching Harmes last year. )

Can't disagree there, definitely didn't live up to my expectations of him, here's hoping he forces his way in this year. Matt Kennedy will probably make that even harder though!

Harmes was unlucky last year. Concussions and hammys robbed him of continuity, but his 6 game stretch from R7-R12 was actually really good.

Averaged 20 touches plus and contributed in different ways. Got Brownlow votes in consecutive games, including a 3 vote (27 possession, 4 goal) game.

If he gets his body right, he'll definitely be an asset.
