Can't get over why they call it aging.

Ted is the only old guy the rest are in their prime, yet to enter that 28-31 year old sweet spot or are kids.

Sure the keys in Ted and Grundy are either old or getting there but with one more key post fit and ready for seniors whether it be AJ, Talia, AA or some import what is the problem?

Players are playing on a lot longer than before, medical treatment keeps them up for it and the remuneration makes it incentivising to stay fit and firing.

Age is hardly the concern. Lack of key post experience with Ted and Talia out at AFL level (and I am stretching it with Talia) is a worry but meh - pretty happy the "small" defence we played on the weekend works - and we have a perfectly good sample size and example in West Coast that proves it can work anyway.

I guess technically everyone is ageing

You can not blame the ump's on this, they are only applying the rules as they are written.

I can.
They treat the Swans with contempt.

Scott says Thomas only got 2 frees for high tackles in 9 weeks - then gets 2 against the Swans, both leading to goals.

Why does anyone play for frees against the Swans? Just wait for a few seconds, the umpires will deliver.

Have you guys seen that free kick to thomas in slow motion. Totally dispicable. And carey has the nerve to defend him.

He sees nick smith, back tracks, slides in under nicks arms, locks his arm in and drives his head and body upwards.

In terms of performance, that was pure art by thomas, in terms of footy, that is the worst case of faking to get a free kick i have ever seen

I am against ducking/staging for free kicks. But at the same time I feel hypocritical because I like Hewett and he has kicked 9 goals but I reckon more than half would be from leaning into tackles.

Hewett is borderline. He sticks his arms in front and angles into the tackle, but he stops short of taking one arm off the ball and lifting it over his head to drag the tackler's arm around his neck. If he got tackled fairly, he'd still have a chance of disposing of the ball. Players like Christiansen, Mathieson, Mclean, Thomas etc... totally commit to the free. They have no way of getting a handball off, because they've got one arm above their head.

Seriously this post makes you sound like a Hawthorn supporter ... :p

Hewett doesnt do dodgy stuff but he does lead with the head and ducks into tackles.

I dont like it, its an ugly look for the game and its up to the afl to stamp it out.

Hard to take him seriously when he had written us off completely in the pre-season though.
to be fair, he did mention in that article that he was sceptical of the swans' chances this year due to an ageing list

I dunno Atleast he happy to show he was wrong and get onboard unlike most other 'journos' who are waiting for the collapse to say I told you so.
That said we still could collapse out of the four.

To be fair I was a bit skeptical at the start of the season but the youth that has come through have performed well above expectations I would say. It could have easily gone the other way. Buddy's state of mind was also under question in the pre-season but he's right back into gun form.
