Must admit I had my doubts about McLean but he keeps proving me wrong , his fitness has improved he keeps on crashing marks and is an excellent set shot. Still a work in progress with his ruck work but Ladhans will struggle to get a look unless there is injury.
Stephens looks better this year without setting the world on fire , Paddy Mcartin was excellent early on taking the initiative and looking to push off his opponent and take marks rather than spoil.Would keep Logan in he was on a hiding to nothing last night with all the Buddymania would hope he gets a run of games rather than go back to the future with Reid or seemingly an underdone Ladhams.
Apart from that I thought it was a very good performance still with room for improvement which should send a message to the rest of the competition.
Buddy is just something else can't say anything that would do him justice....

This is a good call. I was probably harsh on him lumping him in with Rowbottom. I agree that every touch he had looked the goods. He just didn't have many. Only 13. There's efficient, and then there's just quiet. I don't think it would've stood out as much if it wasn't in such a stark contrast to last week where it felt like he was in everything. And given that his issue has always been more about consistency rather than ability... that kind of disparity in performances week to week is what attracts the sceptics.
And it's totally fair considering how Florent's form has ebbed and flowed in previous years. My biggest criticism of Florent though is the quality of his disposals, not the amount. Of course an extra 5 and a goal would of been a real proof of development.

Mills charged with umpire contact.

Please tell me this wasn't when the ump backed away from the centre bounce and tripped over....
Or was it when there was a centre bounce which Selwood was the first one to touch it and the umpire let it go and they goaled off it? Or when the umpire called Rampe's spoil a free kick? There were some seriously bad decisions last night.

Aside from the obvious - what an incredible night. Great to see the love for Bud from all.

For the first time in a while, our back 6 is starting to look really settled imo - McCartin brothers, Cunningham on the small, Blakey and mcinerney rebounding; rampe now free to play a role where he doesn’t have to take the best tall forward. Real 2012 vibes there

McLean I like what he brings - he looks a bit clumsy at times, but he’s actually really good at creating a contest. Great hands; and some really neat passages of play he was apart of. Keeping Reid, Amartey and Ladhams out right now and rightly so.

Hickey - just shake my head at how much he has helped transform our team. We shouldn’t underestimate his role in unlocking our new game play. Such a wily ruckman, absolute love watching his craft.

Stephens - really liking his start to this season. Massive credit to him. The easy option was to bail home on a longer deal, more money and more certainty of his spot. Instead he’s had a massive pre-season and come back and owning his spot. We put pretty high expectations on players these days - and we are all quick to forget players like Petracca took 5+ years to show their true worth.. not saying he will of that level, but stick with it and the reward can be there for both.

Mills, Heeney, Warner etc - all been spoken about at length.

Exciting times ahead

Tony Lockett used to live down the road from my mum and dad's property in Moss Vale. They had about 75 acres. Tony lived further down the road. Next to my mum and dad's place lived 4 brothers on about 650 acres. Tony would come down and help both mum and dad and those 4 brothers because they were all old buggers. That was about 10 years ago. Mum and Dad sold up and moved to northern NSW.
Tony was always willing to help which was nice.

Lost the hitouts 26-35 but it didn't feel that way weirdly enough. Hickey was in bloody everything every time I looked at him, had a ripper game I thought.

32-35 Clearances but in the first half when we were +13, without JPK I might add I thought that was hella impressive from the young lads.
And then there's the inside 50 count 47-65.

Parker & Heeney will be causing nightmares from a opposition planning perspective as they float in and out of the front line. And when their not in the front half Parker seems to be locking onto troublesome mids while Heeney seems to be going deeper into the defence half.

Got smashed in centre clearances 11-18 but won stoppage clearances 21-17. Contested possessions were even. I remember that being a point of emphasis in preseason.

Yeah, they put a lot of work into that area according to some interviews.
