Supreme Court Injunction

not scared - essendon won the match earlier in the year when he and roughead both played. however it would be nice for the coaching panel and players to plan a strategy either with or without him.

it remains to be seen which sides preparation is disrupted more i guess.

I'm happy for Buddy to cop the 2 weeks, but I want any head contact, and I mean ANY contact I see this weekend result in 1 week suspensions. If one goes through to the keeper, then I will be angry.

"You have your members backing to take this matter as far as you deem appropriate.

Should that include going to court, then we're right there with you and the HFC.

For a lot of supporters, this is as much about being sick and tired of what is happening to our game as it is about Lance Franklin being suspended under a rule that is both over-reactionary and ill-conceived .

Which ever way you decide to go Jeff, please don't hold back. The AFL needs to remember that the game doesn't belong to them, it belongs to the players, the volunteers, the members, and the supporters. They need to know that they cannot change integral parts of the game on a "whim" and expect the masses to go quietly."

Just sent.

Unfortunately until the AFL sets up a customer feedback line, this is the closest thing to a voice that we have.

If the masses make enough noise, even those with their heads in the clouds will eventually be forced to listen.

They found him guilty based on one 'amended rule' that did not pass the Laws Committee and is clearly ridiculous.

None of the above have the jurisdiction to overrule an AFL rule.
The courts do.

End of story.

this is not true - the rule was passed 20 weeks ago.

if it were true the appeal would have been successful as this was their angle.

It is entirely true. The Hawks argued a technicality that the amended rule was not properly passed and incorporated into the current rules. It was always a tenuous argument and failed.

They had no other option as none of the courts could rule against a specific law, no matter how unjust.

Please move your arguments to the other thread. This thread is specifically for Hawthorn (or other club) supporters who want to write in to HFC to support a Supreme Court Injunction.

Edit: And I have no issue with Buddy or any other Hawthorn player being taken out by a legitimate bump (even if head high).

The appeal was ignored purely on arrogance and pride. Their reply was based on Tuesday nights result.
If there's a poorly written rule, then that leads to a misleading judgement.
The AFL know they've stuffed up, and they will find out tomorrow.

At least be honest about it if it was an Essendon player or a player from any other club than your own you might think it was wrong but would you be up in arms and emailing our club president or any other clubs?
For the nature of the incident, I would. Surely your not an advocate for soft football, and ruining the integrity of our game?

how ironic would it be if buddy was cleared to play and then got knocked out in the first quarter from a head-high bump!
That would be funny, but i'd put money on it that the Essendon player who bumped him wouldn't even get cited.

How ironic would it be if an Essendon fan posted drivel on his own Board, rather than hanging out on the Hawthorn Board.

yes, I know it's not irony, but he won't ;)

.

I feel Buddy has been hard done by, but them's the rules now, so players are just going to have to live with them.

Just cop the umpire's decision now and move on.
You wouldnt be saying that if it was travis cloke or presti in the firing line, put yourself in hawks fans shoes mate.

I would love to see Hawthorn to take the AFL to court and make life really difficult for them during such an important time of year. What specific point of law would we take them to court on though?
The fact that the rule change technically has not been passed by the laws committee since the maxwell case so therefore they should have gone by the original rule which would have meant buddy wouldnt have even been cited at all. I think they have a good case.

for the good of footy....lol

Of course you wouldn't. Call it what it is, you want him to play so you can win, nothing wrong with that, but "for the good of football" rofl.

Has there been a successful injunction or court action against a tribunal decision since the appeals tribunal has been in?
Its never got to that stage since it has been in. Dont see why the hawks cant make it a first time. Sticking up for what you think is wrong is something we dont see enough of in today's society. People need to grow a set of balls and stop copping things on the chin and actually do something about it.

Just sent the Hawthorn Football Club and Jeff Kennett an e-mail of support. Obviously, if Carlton were to beat Adelaide and Hawthorn to defeat Essendon we'd be playing each other next week and it'd be great (for Carlton) not to have to deal with Lance Franklin in the side, but I simply cannot stomach what has turned out to be a mockery of a decision.

What an absolute joke this whole thing is. I had a really awful feeling once Cousins came out and whined that Franklin has a history of targeting him that Lance would be in trouble for this one. From an outsider looking in it appears as though the AFL played favorites and chose its favorite underdog story of the year (Cousins) over its big bruising star player (Franklin). I know it probably isn't that, but it's difficult for me to see past that.

I hope whatever happens is for the good of the game. If it's a court injunction then good luck with it. If it's not then, good luck with that too.

One thing I do pray for is that you kick the snot out of the Scum this week. Look forward to next week if we beat Adelaide (though I don't think we're going to come close with all those outs).

Cheers mate, a true football fan.

I hope the Hawks persue more action on this case, they won't, due to the totalitarian form the AFL operate. They really are a disgrace, I cant believe a proffesional board operate in the way they do, just give it 5 years and the media will force Adrian Anderson and Adndrew Demetriou out of the game. Seen Demetriou's fixture arrangment, Ben Buckley must be laughing at what has happened to the AFL after he left. Pissing his pants at the mediocre performance.

If we challenge and even win, we will see Hawthorn cop a bad fixture for years, and be crucified any way we can.....

Piss off AFL, is it even valid to call it AFL now?

I hate A. Demetriou currently, thought he trys his best for the game, but really, he is a joke letting the game turning into a different game really. It is different to watch atm, i am currently considering another sport due to them trying to actaully mirror another sport.

Haha, I can't believe how mediocre people can get a job at the top level of a superior sport to most on Australia.

As an opposition supporter, I am appalled by this decision. Even though the Hawks are our bogey side, I do not want to see Buddy wiped out for this. This is the letter I just fired off to Jeff Kennett:

"Dear Jeff,

As a Collingwood supporter, I have no vested interest in whether Buddy plays this week or not. But I am appalled by the decision of the AFL tribunal and urge you to take this matter to the Supreme Court. Buddy simply must play this week! Admittedly, I do have Buddy in my SuperCoach forward line with no healthy substitutes, no trades, a Grand Final this week and $150 riding on the outcome. But even if I didn't, I would still urge you to take this to the Supreme Court. Please Jeff, let Buddy play!

Yours,

Daics35Marvel"

Thought Hawks would take it all the way...
Not to be.

Anyways, what a disgrace the AFL law system is.
