QUESTION: Would you play Kallis AND Flintoff in the same side as they can both fill a role that really only one can fill (all-rounder)?
Because Flintoff offers more on the bowling side, Kallis more on the batting side. Both could make the side on the one discipline

*Edit* Kallis is the no1 ranked batsman in the world in the Test arena, so of course he should get in. After the trouble Freddie caused for Australia in the Ashes, you would be crazy to not include him

I guess a question to you would be, if the top 6 batsman in the world were all all rounders, would you leave 4-5 of them out because you have to many all rounders?

Batting rankings
1 Jacques Kallis AFR 886
2 Rahul Dravid IND 877
3 Brian Lara WI 873
4 Virender Sehwag IND 832
5 Ricky Ponting AUS 825
6 Inzamam-ul-Haq ASI 815
7 Shivnarine Chanderpaul WI 789
8 Marcus Trescothick ENG 778
9 Andrew Strauss ENG 760
10 Graeme Smith AFR 752

Bowling
1 Muttiah Muralitharan SL 887
2 Glenn McGrath AUS 871
3 Shane Warne AUS 843
4 Shaun Pollock AFR 787
5 Makhaya Ntini SA 784
6 Chaminda Vaas SL 770
6 Shoaib Akhtar ASI 770
6 Andrew Flintoff ENG 770
9 Matthew Hoggard ENG 762
10 Irfan Pathan IND 756

All rounder
1 Jacques Kallis AFR 4917
2 Andrew Flintoff ENG 4874
3 Shaun Pollock AFR 3140
4 Daniel Vettori NZ 2954
5 Sanath Jayasuriya SL 2935

Going on those ratings, Trescothick should be opening ahead of Smith ;)

I wouldn't be personally leaving 4-5 out, but at the same time I wouldn't want to carry too many all-rounders because they'll feel useless if they're not doing anything.

can inzi break into the 11??
i just can't see how you can leave out either flintoff or kallis.
can't see dravid taking the gloves and dropping boucher either.
Wouldn't that be funny? He makes all that ruckus about coming to Australia and they make him 12th man. He has an okay record against Australia, failed in his only test in the last series but got a 50 and a 100 in the test series in Australia in 99/00.

I think the best World XI for the SCG is:
Graeme Smith
Virender Sehwag
Rahul Dravid
Brian Lara
Jacques Kallis
Andrew Flintoff
Shaun Pollock
+Mark Boucher
Shoaib Akhtar
Muttiah Muralitharan
Daniel Vettori

Shoaib and Pollock with the new ball, Flintoff a change bowler and old ball reverse swing bowler and park a spinner at one or both ends for the rest of the innings. Kallis may not bowl much, he took two wickets in four tests against the West Indies and four wickets in five tests against England. Got a couple four wicket hauls against Zimbabwe but that is no gauge.

Thank You Pakistan Cricket Board :thumbsu:

Well that will hopefully mean the greatest captain in the game will now be making the trip downunder, he loves the SCG. Atleast now the team that beat the Aussies will have another well deserved representative

Better add Vaughan to the squad at the top ahead of Inzy

Eddiesmith, i gather from that post and your avator that you are a serious english cricket fan

Just wondering how you think England will go in Pakistan this November/December???

we couldnt even get out a dodgy england line up with bell the worst number 4 ever and gerant jones who missed straight balls aimed at the stumps how are we gonna even get halfway through that batting line up

Brett Lee- Dud
Watson- even worse then above
Tait- Inconsistent

We are screwed

If the Aussies win any of the one-dayers, or the test, that would be a phenomenal effort against this lineup. There's absolutely no excuse for the ROW not winning the lot against the Aussies with their talent and the weak links in our team.

Unfortunately, if Australia have a win, instead of getting kudos they'll just hear "well, it's the first time the ROW have played together, what did you expect...."

I wont be suprised at all if Australia win the series, and quite frankly i dont really care. These players are fresh off planes and have never played together, these teams never work and never will, teams take time to mold.

Just saw the prices for the One Day games, Adults are $46 up to $146.

The ICC will be shocked as to the low crowds that turn up, the best crowd will probably be Friday but the other days will be hopeless.

I actually think the importance of team cohesiveness to the ROW has been completely overrated around here. These guys are professionals, they'll gel quickly enough. Even if they don't it only takes a handful of individual brilliant performances and they'll win anyway.

If there's plenty of runouts i'll be proved wrong tho.
