“The SUNS have informed Vivien Saad, Jordan Membrey, Ashanti Bush, Alana Gee, Cara McCrossan and Lauren McConville that they will not be offered contracts for the 2025 AFLW season.”

Vivien Saad is an interesting one. Yep, she was injured. Thought would be ok when she returns though to help out Lynch.

Alana Gee hardly played due to constant injury, but was one of the highly touted girls from memory.

Bush makes sense. Never really thought she was as damaging as we wanted.

Then delisting an Irish convert after one season (3 games) is a bit rough.

There could be additional factors here. So players may not want to continue in the sport/club etc. but yeah, some interesting names.

I guess the shorter contracts and transient nature of the sport, not to mention the thinner talent pool, means that it is very cut throat once out of contract if not performing/injured.

If we keep Rowbottom then that will be huge. She's got every reason to leave at the moment so it would be an outstanding result if she re-signed.

This is almost the same thing to what happened a few years ago when we delisted Jade because she did her ACL.

I would think the next ‘delistings’ will be the coaching and S&C staff. When you have a team performance that poor, and this many players supposedly not able to ‘make the grade’, I think it says more about the coaching staff than the players.

When you see players like gee always constantly injured you do wonder how serious they take preparing themselves to get themselves prepared for the best possible performance. I know they’re only semi professional but if you don’t put the work in you will get chewed up and spat out very quickly. I see a lot of AFLw players posting on social media regularly drinking and partying

You do see a fair bit of that from the girls. Don't get me wrong there's plenty I see doing extra work away from the club but there's also plenty from the other camp.

I wasn’t aware of this.
Well I see that as another reason as if there aren’t enough reasons already for Sesseyaro to be shown the door.
The culture is not right and she’s the common denominator.

I don't normally follow the AFLW, but decided to watch the finals and was surprised to see such a difference in standards between the top 4 games, and the others....(Rich.v Port still going as I type).....
At half time of this last game, I was checking thru some AFL posts and came across this one below....is this a reason for such a disparity in standards? Someone with a better understanding than I, might be able to throw out an opinion..it's behind a paywall but I was able to read the full story on Facebook

Its an interesting one.
Its obvious the standard is improving, as like you said the top teams.. even the new top teams like Port. Hawks. I reckon now there is a good 10 good teams. Where in previous years it was prob only 3-4
But there are a few of us bottom sides being stuck behind for whatever reason. I'm sure the gap will close eventually, but the bottom 6 need to do better

And this article was interesting. Those who want to be professional, do the extras, the extra training even when not required are those that are succeeding v those who will only do whats required in the hours that have been set, but not the extras. And want to have a life outside of footy with work or the like.
These girls need to make a decision. Do you want to be professionals like the mens who dedicated their whole year around their fitness and performances to be the best player they can be, or do want to be half in and hope things work out.

Yikes.
Sums up the list. Tbh, more than 1 of that list would not get a game in any of the finals teams.

There is one player on that list from our 1st season in 2020 (Bella).
There is one player on that list from our 2nd season in 2021 (Daisy).

Have a look at the good teams, still have good players on the list from 5 years ago to make up the core of the team, still have solid AFLW players who have actually got better b/c of all the training and skills work over that time.

We gone backwards. Last year's multiple close wins, and an AA season from Whitfort who can cover the ground and is a really good kick, papered over a lot of cracks.

Shizer. That is a top 10 that screams 'start all over again'........especially with Rowbottom unsigned and we probably won't see Daisy next season with the ACL.

Well I think it’s safe to conclude both Sesseyaro and Joyce are keeping their jobs.
That tells me when it comes to the women’s program both East and Evans are taking the piss.
The WBBL finished Sunday and the next day, the Melbourne Stars sacked their coach. No change with us..

Trade period in a week, and then the draft on December 16th.

Probably means Joyce will be back, but any others would be wait and see. AFLW don't have the extra staff to just step in and do that job.

Sesseyaro is the one most deserving to be let go.
But to let both stay on is really concerning.
Makes me think East and Evans are content with us making up the numbers in the women’s comp.
